HaHa, new report from "Sources" says Deion to USF.

If true (and I have my doubts), maybe he's afraid of taking on a high profile gig right now.
[/buzzing?

It's fo real....at least on campus

If Key gets it, do y'all think he'd keep Chip Long as OC? Defensive staff?
Regardless, after the comments by Cabrera- do any of Chadwell, BoB, or Key really match the direction he was talking?

I took him to speaking to support for the program rather than a specific coach. There are many coaches who can do the job - TBH, I believe any of the ones mentioned can do it, though I have my preferences, However, NONE of them can do it if they don't get more support from the Pres on down. I trust Cabrera and expect to see this level of institutional support soon.

The silver lining today is coaches just got cheaper. We came out looking solid and the Tech men I saw on that field played a hard fought game against a program with a lot of depth. We get the tight end situation and special teams figured out and we are a completely different team next year. I am still in the Key camp.

If we go the Chadwell route I think we gained some leverage in contract negotiation. The loss to James Madison opens the door to the question "is it McCall or the offensive scheme?"

Not sure if I understand the line of thinking in your second paragraph. That question isn’t one to help negotiate a more favorable contract for GT. That question needs to be answered to decide if he’s the guy or not. Has nothing to do with leverage IMO.

My line of thinking is the loss certainly doesn't look good and if we decide to go the direction of hiring Chadwell, he and his agent will need to be a little more humble in compensation (than say last week).

If the decision is made to go with him, hopefully the due diligence has already been done around scheme vs. QB. My question was akin to pointing out a dent on the front bumper of a car you are interested in buying.

This may not be the popular answer, but I believe he best course of action for Coach Key is to keep the entire staff intact. I think continuity will lead to steady improvement in the ensuing years.

One single game really shouldn't change anyone's opinion of a coach.

I love people thinking Tech is too good for BOB.
It’s not that I think GT is “too good” for BOB. It’s the exact opposite. I think it’s too much of a challenge for him and he won’t be successful. BOB couldn’t win this year with Gibbs and all the $$$, support and talent in the CFB world at his disposal at Bama. No way that guy wins at GT.

You could make the argument the UCF game changed the opinion of at least one person this year.

That's kind of my point though. UCF didn't change anyone's mind -- it confirmed what everyone knew.

I’m pulling for Key. But I’m not getting my hopes up. I’ve been told by some alumni that (to put it politely) Batt is very confident in his own abilities to make a good hire, independent of the advice and input of some pretty respected alumni and ex-players. I think he’s going to want to justify his job promotion with his signature hire.
