Correct. They whipped an awful Kansas team and a Covid BYU team that played only a bunch of lower-tier'd teams who'd agree to play them after Covid cancellations. Not their fault...but it does give some context to the phrase "omg they beat a solid BYU team!".

I'm not going to denigrate Coastal's achievements. They're the biggest bluegill in the school and bluegills are tough little fish.

But we're striper fishing.

Looks like a lot of one-score wins if you ask me. Check the bold - their offensive output (assuming they are all offensive scores). First half definitely better than the tough part of their schedule in the last half.

To be fair, 2022 was supposed to be a down or at least "off the pace" year for them. He returned only six starters on both sides of the ball combined IIRC. And also to be fair, that's not the most challenging schedule, but with only one blemish against it, that is pretty impressive IMHO. Lot to be said for winning with what ya got .

That doesn't sound like the reason. They lost to ODU well into the season after they had already beaten Army and both GSU's.

They got boot-stomped by ODU.

The guy (CJC) can clearly coach offense. There should be no quibbles about that. However, he's not exactly lighting up the scoreboard this season. I find it interesting that the folks defending his weaknesses this season are allowing Key no such grace.

His entire team graduated last year. He's a portal wizard, and I think moving forward we could really use someone like that. Can you imagine how we'd do with CPJ running the show with a transfer portal? We'd be so screwed.

If Key won every game but UVA, he would get the same treatment.
 
Coastal also has done great by bringing in former FBS players. When they were great it was because of this. Mostly from obscure ways. Don’t love Chadwell don’t hate him. Just saying.
