Yes, it can be worse and it has been worse at Tech before.

People at Tennessee didnt think it could get worse after Fulmer when they fired him. Then Kiffin ööööed them, and theyve made 3 vanilla (or worse) hires since. I do think the comparison between Tennessee is somewhat apples to oranges, but they have much more alumni support, can recruit, dont have the same restrictions we do. The Haslams öööö everything up there similar to the hill restricting us.

My main point is that if we fire CPJ, our next hire has to absolutely be a homerun hire. It cant be some up and comer that isnt tested and can fail like derek Dooley. The risk is far too high. With that type of coach we are destined to go sub .500 for a couple years, then 7-5 a couple years and then go on to the next hire. If we did hire [insert up and coming G5 or FCS coach], we better damn well be sure that all is lost with CPJ. Things are not looking good with this team, but he has proven to win in the past (even with his own players). once the determination has been made that we wont see good years with CPJ again, then I'm more open to taking a risk.

Otjerwise bring on leach, kiffin, Campbell, etc.

Call me optimistic, but I think he would give us a sniff. What other programs could’ve offered recently? A bunch of also ran SEC teams in either tough divisions or bad recruiting areas. Tech has an easy division, and is in a recruiting hot bed. Would be an easy place to win and, honestly, doesn’t demand very much in terms of expectations - we all know 7-8 wins per season and one 10 win season every 5 years would keep us happy until the end of time. The only other thing I can think of is BV is waiting for Saban to die/retire.

If he benches Taquon, he will have my support for one more season to turn things around.

Who does TStan have contacts with from his past AD gigs? I wouldn’t rule out anyone who he has worked with before who was a HC or coordinator.

O'Leary? Maybe one of his coordinators at UCF?

TStan has never really been at a program long enough to put his imprint on it or make a significant hire or probably even develop any significant relationships with any coaches we would likely be interested in. As good as he's been with branding and fundraising, he is a total unknown when it comes to coaching decisions.
