Third string linemen? You’re gonna viva Pawl a pass because we had some third string linemen playing?
 
I see a great analogy with between Curry and Collins. Curry was hired for a particular reason - he was a Tech man by the book replacing a showboat in Rogers; Collins - a showboat replacing a stoic, old school curmudgeon (could've been a Tech man) in Johnson. But neither Curry, nor does it appear Collins, can coach. It wasn't until Curry finally got smart and brought in Don Lindsey to run the Defense and Dwain Painter to run the offence, did we break out of the losing mold Curry brought. Collins, likewise needs to find his Lindsey and Painters, cause these two coordinators are not it. Curry let Painter and Lindsey leave after the All American Bowl. Then Curry goes down the hallway and reinstalls good ole Rip Sherer as OC after no one had even bothered to give him a call. Yep, back to lackluster years. That's when I gave up on Curry. Collins is getting close. He needs to own this mess this year and do something. There is no way we shouldn't be seeing some improvement in year three - injuries or not. And I mean significant improvement, record aside. I had better hopes for this year and I'm seeing looooooong time supporters of the program leaving. But if something's not done here soon, I'm afraid the &*^% is about to hit the fan (pun intended).
 
Thacker is killing us I actually think pnaude is ok.. they lack discipline on offense but they’ve hit some big plays

Isn't that what we've been doing for Collins for 3 years? Isn't that exactly what at least 1 poster here has said in every thread complaining about our coach?

CPJ never could've been a Tech Man , he was a friggin' PE Major from Western Carolina, that's actually below the Family & Childhood Development Major at Auburn that all their Athletes Major in.

Geez, the love affair that some of you guys have for this dude is perplexing.

BTW , Pepper was a Tech Man

This is the truth. Collins had to ditch half the defensive corches yesterday.

They lack execution on the OLine, but rarely do I remember skill guys running the wrong route or missing an assignment, in fact #27 never misses picking up a blitzer, he delivers punishment when he catches someone blitzing, dude plays angry, I wish I could bottle it and get the other 84 guys on scholarship to play the same way

Big difference between lacking discipline and poor execution, the Defense lacks discipline, they simply do the wrong things and it is easy to see.

I think the bigger problem is CDP does a poor job disguising the plays. Whether it is personnel grouping, formation, alignment, whatever, we have way too many plays a game where the defense seems to know where we are going. I think that can be fixed. I don’t know that booting him will end up in a major upgrade without a big outlay of money.

Thacker, otoh, has not reached the levels set by Groh or Roof.

Well then you should feel good then. We are getting to skip bowls on the regular. Got to skip UGA beat down last year too. Yay!
 
If the timing somehow works, Dan Mullen. Has had success at a low-mid level school in a P5 conference and can keep our recruiting at a top 30 level. Should be able to dominate in the ACC and will probably be attractive to proven assistant coaches.

Actually has great success every 2-3 years because he develops players in his system. Can find and develop top level qb talent.

Firing Pepper was a mistake. He was a much better coach than Curry.
