BOWLS

Now, when I was a young lad there were only six bowls----and one of them was the Tangerine Bowl. Who remembers the Oil Bowl?
I do not remember it but I have a rocks glass that remembers one:

Just announced it is the coldest bowl game ever played. 11 degrees.

Air Force calls time out. Someone yells from the stands "HEY TROY, ITS COLD"

and he just called another one, up 15 with 28 seconds left....

After the game, Calhoun on the cold: I don't think I have ever experienced anything like this

Off we go into the wild blue yonder
Climbing high, into the sun
Here they come, zooming to meet our thunder
At em boys, give ‘em the gun
Down we dive, spouting out flames from under
Off with one helluva roar!
We live in fame, go down in flame Hey!
Nothing can stop the US air Force
(Except lightning within five)

An option team that throws the ball an average of 7 times a game just won double digit games in a season for the third time in the past four years. So much for rule changes making the offense obsolete
Their schedule is trash

Having had son to play for the USAFA, I am very happy with their win last night against Baylor. Alumnus, Troy Calhoun has
done a good job coaching his Alma Mater. Playing football at the service academies is a grind and much different than playing
in a P5 conference. Those kids have four years to play with no redshirt year. When my son was a C4C (Freshman) at the USAFA, there was
a C1C (Senior) linebacker playing his final year of football at the academy with a knee injury that would have been an instant
medical redshirt at the majority of P5 conferences, but somehow, someway this guy had the fortitude and resolution to play
his final year with a knee injury.

Say what you want to about the service academies, those SA's play with heart and determination!

Upon graduation, they take their oath seriously to defend our country and protect our liberties.

Troy Calhoun said post game that you'd likely never see two more 10 win seasons in a row for Air Force, referencing the NIL, best I can tell.

Great post. And excellent use of SA . . . in one of the few remaining places where they still exist.

If there is a mic drop post in this thread, BOOM, there it is.

Whatever. What conference does the USAFA play in? Who do they play?
They play in a conference of their peers.

Name the other teams that have > 9 wins per season over the last 3 consecutive seasons.

To say that its meaningless because its a small, resource-starved conference is retarded.

According to the RPI that the NCAA uses, the Mountain West Conference is as close to the ACC as the ACC is to the SEC.

Plus, it’s ööööing Air Force. What kind of recruits can they reasonably get when they have to serve for five years after graduation and they have strict height and weight limits?

That was one of the dumbest things I have ever seen. WFvMIZZ

Yeah, I was bored. I don't have an opinion on the option either way. It doesn't matter. It will never come back to Tech, and likely no other P5 team. Majority of fanbases, boosters, admins, and kids that see themselves as moving up to pro ball have no appetite for it.

I just wish it wasn't argued about on this board everytime it "works" or "doesn't work" each game. If you like it, great, if you don't great.

Yes, let them play Clemson, UGA, Miami, VPI, Iowa, LSU, etc. and see what happens.

But… the O still works, just not like it once did. More of a grind now, but it works.
