Probably not the best forum for him to express his feelings, but this board is disgusting at times. A bunch of 21 year old nerds hiding behind a message board name. As much as you're calling out Dwyer for doing the wrong thing, you're doing the wrong thing too. Just delete this thread.

Jon, I know you're reading this.

Look, you had three great years with us. There is no doubt that you did a lot for us. We may have been disappointed at times, but we still rooted for you and knew you would do us well. The people here were as devastated as you probably were when you were drafted so low, because we know what you're capable of.

We're angry right now because your comments do not show us in a good light. Is what you said true? It partly is. Hell, we discuss it here all the time. We know our attendance isn't great. I'm not entirely sure if you know that many other fan bases have low attendances as well at times. As some have mentioned, Miami doesn't exactly sell out by any means unless there is a huge game, and someone else also mentioned that UGA didn't sell a load of student tickets this season as well. Also look at Stanford. They're #4 in the nation and have a hell of a team, yet their fan base isn't too huge either.

The reason why though is because consistent winning is necessary, especially for us when we've lost to our biggest state rival so many times over the past 30 years, and when we have to compete with a couple of professional sport teams in our own city. For a while, we didn't have the coach. Now we do. Now we need more talent, and we're slowly getting there. However, what you are doing right now is not helping. Many recruits adore you and what you did here, as they should. When they see you bad mouthing the Institute, why would they want to come here? It simply doesn't help.

Jon, again, we all really do appreciate what you did here. We appreciate it greatly. I am very hopeful that we will have a football program very soon that sells out every game, even against FCS opponents. We're getting there, really. I also wish you the greatest of luck in the NFL, and I hope you represent us well regardless of what's been said here tonight.

I haven't said anything here I wouldn't say to Jon to his face. And based on what he's posted, I gather I'd be best doing it tonight while buying him another beer. :)

Phil Smith The whole stingtalk website is a complete joke, you know this as well as I do. It's ironic how they "bleed old gold and white", yet they have no clue what we go through and still rip us to shreds if we had a subpar game or anything else they feel is necessary to call us out on. It's also funny how each one claims to know exactly what our team is doing wrong and how they know how to fix it. Why aren't they on the coaching staff? It really is a travesty the way some of our fans behave.
 
I agree with you that we don't have as many "fans" as some other schools.

I went to a lot of away games watching you and the Jackets play, and I learned a lot about fanbases during that time. There is a loyal core and the rest are fair-weather fans. Our loyal core is stronger than any I've seen. The fair weather fans will show up and fill the stadium when we begin building a dynasty. Thanks for helping start a dynasty here at GT and check back in a few years. I'm sure you'll find rednecks throwing trash all over the campus and a 50-year-old dumbass who lives for nothing but painting a bee on top of his head so he can be on tv a few times a year.

We don't have as many alumni as other schools, but we provide a better education. The alumni we have are more involved with the school.

Did you hear what PJ said while you were here? If you want people wearing GT hats, then win some damn ballgames. Until you win consistently, you'll have to put up with the smaller loyal core that is going to show up and yell their heads off even if you say **** like you did on facebook.

You've been one of my favorite Jackets, and I do see where you're coming from, but I think you'll look at it differently if you think on it a while.

The recipe (win more, win consistently, beat georgia) worked great from 98 to 2000. Go back and look at attendance pre 98 to 2000 leading up to expansion.

Then look at average annual attendance now compared to expansion. We average more now than our max used to be. Would we average more still if we'd gone .500 vs UGA in the past decade? Absolutely.

The best thing Tech can do for its attendance over the long term is continue to post winning records and beat Georgia. An occasional conference championship will help some, but winning regularly and beating Georgia regularly would help a lot more. We're not too bad at winning regularly. This year is our first CGE year under PJ. Gotta beat Georgia though.

We'll get there. Georgia's about to take a nose dive once AJ Green leaves.

Why do I get the feeling Phil is typing this but he doesn't believe it?

Why don't our players have thicker skin? Surely they can't possibly think we are the only fanbase that rant on boards after our favorite team loses a game.

What the **** is this? We're your biggest ****ing fans. A complete joke? I haven't been here long but Stingtalk has done a whole ****ing lot in uniting fans and allowing us to discuss things related to our athletics and our Institute for nearly ten ****ing years. You know where you were ten years ago? You were in ****ing elementary school.

God damn it, we're your biggest fans. Don't talk **** about us not caring or calling us a joke.
