1-1 with Todd Stansbury. What should I ask him?

1) Library is 100% closed on game days

2) campus wide rule: no assignments due or tests allowed the Monday following a home game.

3) Sell beer

I'm fine with selling beer but only to Tech fans - do you really want to start selling beer while the mange-covered dwags infest our sacred stadium like a swarm of fleas this coming November? Yikes, I'd rather continue smuggling in my Goslings 150 then drinking a lukewarm $8.75 Schlitz from a Tech cup assuming you can even get through the horde of red and black orcs at the concession stand to order one.

You have to further than #1 and 2. I saw people parking at the Tech Hotel on our Thursday night game this year because they had a class. During the game. And I think there are some Saturday morning classes as well leading up to our all to frequent noon games.

How do you host a major athletic event on your campus and not cancel those classes?

What losers

I agree. Go the NPR "sustainer" route instead of forcing yourself to ask for donations from the same group every year. Plus getting donations on monthly bank draft should save in CC processing fees.

I would also like to see outreach to local colleges that don't have football teams (Emory & Agnes Scott). Maybe have a game designated as local college night and provide discounted tickets.

He could do something simple like having a $10/month contribution gets you an automatic 10% off at the GT Bookstore...get creative with it. Plenty of opportunities/ways to increase donations.

I was looking for pictures of GT fans in the stands at BDS to compare against similar pictures of other schools fans in their stadiums as a way to illustrate why the AA needs to drive a standard color scheme for all merchandise, but this is the picture that caught my eye from the google image search.

Solid 7.5!

Start delivering some home wins the last Sat in Nov.

This'll be the year, baby!

My idea is to give away upper north seats to kids with high school IDs (and not wearing red or orange or other college team clothing) day of game first come first served.

It would:
Build the fanbase, especially among local youths
Look good on TV, to the team, and to recruits
Make a little money when they buy concessions

Understand your sentiment, but if we are serious academic institution, we won't cancel class for a football game. This is SEC-level garbage.

That said - I wouldn't mind seeing some common-sense schedule restructuring on gamedays. Easier said than done, of course.

I don't have a problem with that at all. In that case, we shouldn't schedule games on Thursday nights.

But if you are going to host events that bring 40,000 people to your campus, you should make changes in your normal schedule to accommodate. Not a matter of being SEC or ACC or whatever. Canceling one day of class, scheduled before the term even begins, is not going to cause anyone a problem. No different than being off for Labor Day or any other holiday taken by the school.

Agree with this 1000%. Root cause is Thursday games in the first place. I guess it has some sentimental value and seems to be a tradition for ESPN to do it but don't like the impact is has on traffic, classes, etc.

He's so strapped for ideas on how to make money he's relying on undergrads....
That's not it at all. He's also talking to staff, boosters, coaches, and folks within the administration and colleges. He's most of his way through his staff and the boosters already. Now, he's turning to the campus resources.

He's got a good plan to try and flip the recruiting narrative around by stressing the benefits of getting a solid education and post-career opportunites, while playing at the highest level. He wants to stress that our athletes can retire from their sports on their own terms, similar to Calvin and Texiera, without having to worry that they aren't prepared for a long life afterwards. He's also interested in rebranding the AA and the Edge Center into something more along the lines of a high tech headquarters or maker's space. He wants to take the best ideas that Tech is developing and find ways to incorporate them into the athletes' lives - state of the art learning, nutrition and training facilities; avenues for entrepreneurship, partnerships between athlete's and Tech owned, and managed, corporations.

He's very serious about reinstituting Dr. Rice's Total Person Program and is already making strides in that regards.

It's basically everything we've always said should be stressed to the recruits and their families.

How about this.....Atlanta has a ton of alums from colleges and universities all over the country. They are normally watching their own team on the tube and not coming to games

Coordinate with local alum groups of other schools to email blast local alums with discounted ticket offers or special packages to come to our game when their team is not playing on a particular Saturday.

We know you are a Michigan fan, but why not check out Tech as your local team since the Maize and Blue have a bye this week. Here is what we offer....

This is an interesting idea, but does it work anywhere else? If UT offered me a similar deal, I would likely decline but I have GT season tickets. However, there's a fellow in our section who is a Washington Huskies fan and wears their gear to every Tech game. I talked to him one time about that but I was drunk and forgot what he said.

Probably something about how his dad is also his grampa.

Using innovation:
Have the scout team run pre-snap reads in front of 360 deg cameras - then let the two deep run iterations of pre-snap reads at night via VR and not have it count against NCAA practice hours.

Have the CS guys write a program to track opposing players routes, aggregate them, then upload the program 'smart tackling dummies' (or better, clever name) to run those plays at game speed.

Get the textile guys working on wearable strengthening gear.

Monetizing Bobby Dodd:
Talk with Pinewood Studios (or the location guys in LA) about using Bobby Dodd for football movies - plus you have access to cheap extras on campus. Only 30 minutes from the studio/close to airport.
