A Player’s Mom Speaks

In regards to the stadium being empty… I love GT football. Have been a season ticket holder for several years. But it’s a pain in the ass to get there on a Saturday to watch a team lose nearly every game. Only win this year at BDS was against Kennesaw State. By watching on TV I get my 3hrs of driving back, plus can see better. I’m missing out on the game atmosphere, which isn’t really there right now anyway. It just sucks all around… not much I’d like more than a quality team at Tech to cheer for on my fall Saturdays. I’m not going to be guilt tripped by a player’s mom.

You are the problem she is referring to. Not CGC.
Sounds like a vicious cycle...team has a coach who cant coach his scheme .... a players momma come to the defense of the players because fans are not in stands to watch the team lose to teams they should beat.... seems like the only logical option is to fire this coach, find a coach who can win more than 3 games a season and then the fans will come back..... or we can have fans choose not to support the dumpster fire, mommas complain they should have chosen another school and keep winning 3 games a season.....hmmmm...Going to get interesting!

100% spot on!

Would be nice to make Stansbury, Collins, Patenaude, Thacker and Key sit in the upper east with all the ugag fans that can’t afford ugag season tickets during cofh. Let coach Choice call the O and Marco the D. I mean it likely couldn’t make the results any worse.

Actually I would like for Coach Choice and Coleman to stay on staff while all the others are shown the Door!

If the mutts went through a crappy bunch of years like we are doing, that stadium in Athens would still be full to the brim every game, win or lose. And the same can be said for most schools in the country. Why are we (plus a few other ACC schools) so cursed with cruddy fans?

I concur.
For some of us, it's a 4 hour drive, sometimes with four hours of sleep, and then the expense of hotels, bar tabs, strip ... um, more bar tabs.
I love the atmosphere at HGF/BDS. I love watching the Jackets play there. But I also have the right to call out a program that seems to be just beating its meat while I take time and money to watch a poorly-led product on the field. I have the right to sit at home and watch and kvetch or listen as I go to an event on a Saturday afternoon. And kvetch.
Judging by the declining attendance, there seem to be many others like this.

Then I agree that you should wait until the next 10-win season before you come back.

I concur.

Sadly, I concur, although, even with a 2 1/2 hour drive (sometimes 3, depending on Panola Rd), I still come every week.

And calls out all of you whiny ass fans.

She can take her son somewhere else.

As to the mom's original statement, college football is a brutal business. Coaches get canned all the time. Some coaches get canned in less time than Collins has had now at Tech.
Fans will support a program that they believe has a chance to competing and winning. They won't show up for one that has little chance of that happening.
And if your son stays, he still gets that top-notch education.

Wanted to come for last week but there was no way we could make that happen. Way too much work obligations piling up. But we watched. Then wish we hadn't.
Plan to be there next weekend for BC and for UGa.

Have you ever been to Nashville to watch a game? When a team sucks nobody shows up.
From what I have seen on TV, even from Nashville, that stadium is full, even if there are more opponent fans than actual Vandy fans. The only game we can fill it up for is the UGA game, unfortunately with mostly mutt fans.
