Tampa, as far as Ws, maybe so, but the confusion and poor preparation we see now in the 3rd year are troubling, no? As for the definitely improved recruiting, it is not at the hyped elite level that was advertised. He never explained it as elite compared to CPJ or Tech's historical norm, it was elite, period. The obvious chipping at one another on blown coverages among the secondary, isn't the best of looks either. A significant number among the fanbase fully recognized that this would be a difficult transition, but a lot of them also know a struggling staff when they see one. A lot of us have lived through them. Imo, some are not distinguishing between the elements of a tough transition and the metrics of a staff, tough transition or not.I have no idea what this fanbase was expecting after a decade of all-in on the triple option. Has our staff made boneheaded game decisions? Yes of course they have room for improvement in several areas. However, the long play here is improving our talent such that we are not at a severe talent gap to our opponents every FBS game. This gap got so bad in CPJ's final years that even lower FBS teams on our schedule were more talented than us at nearly every position on film. Collins deserves a full five years before we can even *begin* to properly evaluate him due to how badly we recruited under CPJ. The super senior era has made his evaluation even harder because teams that out recruited us for the past six years will still be better than us until the super seniors finally drop out.
If we don't "begin" to evaluate until after year 5, it will be a first in the history of CFB, with the possible exceptions of Marshall, SMU, and Tech in the early 80's.
