Candidates For New Head Coach

If the GTAA is really operating at a high leadership level ... Stansbury rallies the troops and a massive upgrade is made to the assistant pool salary ... and then the assistants themselves. I'd start with Thacker. And what's better than getting a big time DC? Taking the best recruiter away from your rival in the process. This guy has no allegiance to UGAg beyond a pay check. Pay him whatever he asks to become the coaching equivalent of John Dewberry. https://georgiadogs.com/sports/football/roster/coaches/dan-lanning/2398
If CGC really "loves" GT, then he would take a pay cut to improve assistants' salaries---ala Dabo

I have seen it suggested that even Whisenhunt turned us down flat, actually, and only talked to TStan as a courtesy. It makes sense that up and coming coaches wouldn't want to go to a place to try and flip a roster, knowing that fans have come to expect bowl games at a minimum. Collins can take the hits because he has this unshakeable faith in the power of positive thinking.

I do think we will be in a much better position in a year or two, if a change needs to be made. We'll have a talented roster and an improved recruiting reputation. People don't realize how far we had fallen in industry circles. The duct taped 7 win seasons covered it up.

IMHO this is 100% accurate. Maybe They need you as AD

LOL. I don't think so. Did you not see how he practically wilted like a flower when he was MILDLY challenged by the meek Ken Suguira during the presser after the NIU loss?

The guy is a thin-skinned fraud.

Yeah, I saw that. It was a bad look, but the guy simply can't process negative thoughts.

If anyone is to be fired it’s our AD folks. To sign this nutsack of an Uncle Rico clobe to 7 yrs on a basic 500 record at Temple after Rhule left is beyond stupid. Either Collins has Hoover files or he was sold a bad deal by a great salesman. Either way deuces

Aaaaaaah, SHADDAP!!! Ain't nobody getting fired.

Dude. I’m agreeing with you. If the product on the field is fireable. So should be the case for whoever gave him that long of a deal
Stop agreeing with me öööööööööööö. We don't do that öööö here.

I have no idea what this fanbase was expecting after a decade of all-in on the triple option. Has our staff made boneheaded game decisions? Yes of course they have room for improvement in several areas. However, the long play here is improving our talent such that we are not at a severe talent gap to our opponents every FBS game. This gap got so bad in CPJ's final years that even lower FBS teams on our schedule were more talented than us at nearly every position on film. Collins deserves a full five years before we can even *begin* to properly evaluate him due to how badly we recruited under CPJ. The super senior era has made his evaluation even harder because teams that out recruited us for the past six years will still be better than us until the super seniors finally drop out.
Serious question here if this is true then how did we go 7-5 overall and 5-3 in the ACC during CPJ’s last year if the talent was that bad ? CPJ’s final 3 seasons we won 9, 5, and 7 games.

What percentage tags of the two-deep on offense finished their careers his last year?

I don’t know. That’s why I axed. Can any of y’all who keep track of this stuff help out here?
Qua Searcy, Clinton Lynch and Brad Stewart are all that I can find who had significant offensive contributions that did not return in 2019, this excludes lineman. A significant portion of our contributing RB's, WR's and most of the defense in 2021 are still players that he inherited. I just don't see how you align the narrative that we had fallen to FCS level talent towards the end of Johnson's time here yet still won 7 games AND Collins has rapidly and significantly increased that FCS level talent but can't win more than 3 games and still plays a significant amount of the FCS talent that he inherited. Some of that might be true but I don't see how all of it is.

I was mainly asking about linemen.

Also lost TaQuon who was the leading passer and rusher. And I believe the entire defensive line on a defense that was pretty weak in 2018
