CG3 Shade Thrown at Tech Students

I don't think Stan is an idiot. He simply bought into a narrative that many others have - that GA Tech needed to rebrand to become relevant to Atlanta. Here's a clue: Winners are always relevant.

There's no need for any rebranding crap. Just shut up, recruit your tail off, hire the best position coaches you can, work your tail off to get the best take you can on your next opponent, and coach the heck out of your players. The rest will take care of itself.

Being petty is much easier now with the internet and its forms of communications. Coaches, politicians and others that have small minds and a lack of integrity can quickly and loudly proclaim their juvenile complaints. Most people realize what is going on except the few people that happen to be idiots themselves.
Tweeting about the football program after him would be petty. Retweeting about the student section after a basketball game or two is just cowardly. Dude’s a giant bitch.

Georgia Tech does need to be relevant to Atlanta, doofus.

If Collins and Stansbury had a verbal handshake agreement that the AD would publicly support Collins in exchange for a portion of his buyout, what can be done? First of all Collins was going to get his buyout whether the AD supported him or not. The only way I could see this being feasible is if Stansbury and Collins agreed to this when the contract was first drawn up. This would be unlikely because it would mean that Collins was sure of his failure from day 1. Collins was too delusional for this rational thinking.
Sue him for breach of fiduciary duties. As director, he owed a duty of loyalty to his employer and was required to put his employer’s interests above his own. That would be the claim under this scenario.

I don't know whether TStan is an idiot or not.

I have plenty of evidence to say he has very lousy judgment. Good judgment is probably one of the most important requirements for an AD. I hope Batt has it.

My favorite part of that Key interview was when he said they went 4-4 after he took over, and he was basically disgusted by it. I love that. He won more games in interim duty over 2/3 of a single season, in the meat of the schedule, than the previous loser did in any full season that also included the cupcakes, and he was disappointed by it. I really hope Key succeeds.

Agree. You need to connect GT to ATL and the Atlanta culture to bring in the best players and win games. That’s why I think someone like Deion would be successful here.

Of course you also have to win games while doing the above.

Still hard to understand so many taken in by such an obvious used car salesman.
Don't confuse supporting the team with being a Collins fan. I support Brent Key now. If he succeeds, awesome. If he doesn't, there is no "can't believe you were fooled into hiring a first time HC BS"

Collins can DIAF as far as I'm concerned. When he was our HC, I wanted him to be successful. He seemed to only want to brand himself as some sort of Minister of Mayhem and not coach. It was just a train wreck.

Deion may prove successful at a college level, but he could also be Geoff Collins 2. He has yet to show he is a top level coach.

Was anybody (outside of maybe the GT administration) really taken in, though. I guess prior to the first season, he talked a reasonably good talk - brought in some coaches that lent credibility, talked about doing some things that were not, on their face, stupid (focus on recruiting, using technology, trying to make Tech cool and part of Atlanta).

Some of it was cringey, but at best, most people seemed to be “wait and see” or “I don’t love it but if it works…” Once it became clear that it wasn’t going to work, I think people swung from cautiously optimistic to skeptical to hostile pretty quickly.

Bingo!!!

Folks can say that they just support Tech football, like one asshole posted before.

Bull öööö.

I support Tech football and cheer Tech football. But you won't find posts here by me slobbering Skinnypants' knob. However there were MANY by others. It was a weekly source of frustration here.

LOTS of people who post here were clearly taken in by it!

I do not have the time or energy to go back and highlight all the posts here slurping up all the Waffle House, ATL, money down and other pure used car salesman bull öööö stunts. People here shamelessly gobbled his goo. Sickened me then, but I did not want to attack my team's coach by calling them out. And I'm not going to slam Key either - but I'm pretty damn sure that even if he doesn't win, at least he's not going to be running some slick, öööös-and-giggles, three ring circus here.

But to act like no one was taken in . . . don't pee on my leg and then try to tell me it's raining.

Including Jahmyr Gibbs - so at least I had some pretty good company. I mean, if you knew it right off the Batt, then I'm impressed. Seriously. I missed it. Until the Citadel game, at least. That's when I knew.
