Expansion Rumors…

Some of you think Tech has zero leverage in the current climate and I'm here to tell you we do. If you think the SEC is just going to let the B1G come down here and claim a foothold, "you got another thing coming."

I'm sure that the SEC would believe that they would still "own" the area regardless of GT in the B1G. The move for the B1G would be grabbing GT along with a UNC, UVA and another southern school to claim a foothold here along w/out West by adding a Stanford/Oregon to go w/the LA schools that joined.

Right, it would be GT and some other schools for sure. I just don't see how the SEC is just going to sit idle and let them get GT without a fight. Then again, I've been wrong before.

Looking at this from the other direction, how about the ACC getting Notre Dame to agree to become a football member, and recruit a 16th team?
Potential teams we could add include:
- Navy; gives us Maryland TV sets, National brand, ND fixed annual opponent, geographically contiguous
- Stanford; give us California TV sets (potential huge revenue increase), top academic and non-rev sports teams, a long flight to play them)
- Cincinatti; currently good in football, Louisville caliber academics, geographically contiguous, adds Ohio TV sets

Imagine how awkward it would be for Stanford lol. A little island out there.

See the ACC Super Conference thread. I just don't see this pot as sweet enough to get ND when the B1G wants them. Navy shouldn't be in a power conference. Stanford? Fine, I guess. Cincy? Having a good run, but not a big enough brand or tv draw whatsoever. Notre Dame will go B1G or stay independent, IMO.

I am getting tired of looking at this all day. Gonna take a break. Prob no news for a few months.

This article sums up everything I think, and captures what is really dying here:
Yeah, this is what is so short sighted by the SEC and now B1G. They need these other teams and leagues for the greater benefit of all and it's what makes college football a spectacle, not just a game of the century (which will now happen multiple times weekly, apparently). It's the crazy variety that makes it special. The Power Two are literally going to kill the golden goose, or what was still alive of it after NIL all but killed it off already.
