Expansion Rumors…

This tweet states that Oregon, Washington, Arizona, Arizona State, Utah, Colorado have an invite to the Big12, but it is good for 30 days. seems to jive with the PAC opening up Media talks with ESPN. I assume the programs will follow the money, going to be interesting to see where they land!

Isn't he one of the jackasses that is wrong about everything he puts out everytime realignment comes up?

True nuff, but the bottom half of the sec must make a lot of bad hires and decisions, huh?
Sure, in some cases. Tennessee being a great example and recently, Florida has been similar. Vandy is just...Vandy.
Missouri had a few good years when they had a coach and a QB but then they got all woke and went broke.
Arkansas had a struggle because Beliema couldn't adapt his game to the SEC style but Pittman seems to have them in a good place for the future. If he can recruit, they certainly have the resources with all that Wal-Mart $$ behind them.

Yeah…wasn’t this the same guy who had Clemson and FSU going to the BigXII, Oran I thinking of someone else?

I don't get why the Big 12 is the one pushing the offer to the PAC. Losing TX and OU is going to about cut their TV deal in half to around $20MM when it expires in '25. The PAC can work a new deal now that would likely come in at that amount at least. It seems the PAC ought to be chrrey picking the Big 12, not the other way around.

Listening to CBS Sports on Sirius radio this afternoon was kind of depressing. They were saying it’s pretty much a “given “that FSU, Clemson, and Miami will vote for the SEC in the next 2 to 3 years.

IMHO. The numbers don’t add up financially. The bottom line is the Pac-12 cannot survive without UCLA and USC and is destined for more declining payouts. I think the Pac-12 jewels are currently Oregon and Washington, but the Big 12 will put them on a pivotal “decision challenge” by moving on Arizona and Arizona State to build a western presence with BYU and Texas Tech. If Oregon and Washington do not join with a strong commitment and are tenderly joining with an eye on the Big Ten, then the Big 12 will go after Utah and Colorado as a package with the Arizona schools. The ASU/UA/U of U/CU addition with BYU makes sense. Plus FOX wants it, remember ESPN tried to blow up the BIG12 a year ago.

On June 2 a report came out that the new BIG12 is not as weak as folks think, “What we found out, in large measure, was both inside the Big 12 footprint and outside the Big 12 footprint, our membership going forward is viewed very positively,” he said. “We did a lot of slicing and dicing of the data based on demographics, and the new conference alignment really tests well with both people inside the Big 12 footprint and outside in the 18-44 age range. That's a very positive perspective on that. Of course, that's tomorrow's fans.” Thats Tomorrows TV deal.

I'm headed to the nearest payphone. I have the insider info, but I can't reveal my identity. It is kind of like deepthroat.
I'll be in the garage awaiting deepthroat. Depending on how long you are, I can play either role.

Ok, so our invite with UNC, Clemson, FSU and Miami to the BIG or SEC will come despite the lack of interest in Football. Ok!

I think the more appropriate point to be made is decisions on conference affiliation and a GT invite I would think will be based on more than the superficial metric of how much interest there currently is in GT football based on the current head coach. It doesn’t help to be pitching ourselves given the current state of the program, but it’s probably akin to giving a car a good wash before selling it at the dealership.

That said, I made a point on another board that GT could secure their spot tomorrow if leadership came out proposing academic and financial support similar to what Miami did, promising dedication to reviving the program to its historically strong status. That would be worth far more than the current guy coaching the team.

Lack of interest in football may hurt us, but it’s not because of Collins.
This is debatable. I think the direction he has taken the program has alienated much of the “Old Guard” and the lack of success in the W/L category has alienated a portion of even the die-hards.

I understand Collins had his work cut out for him and he was given a very long leash but to suggest that the chronic apathy we are seeing is not his fault is a stretch.

When Bill Curry took over our disaster of a program, his confidence was infectious.

When Bobby Ross took over, no one doubted him.

When O’Leary took charge, everyone believed in him.

I’ll just stop there.

That’s not true of Ross or Curry and you know it. The difference is press conferences weren’t posted on ööööing YouTube. Collins may be worse to listen than them but damn 1-10 or 1-9-1 two times in a row will be some öööö

The PAC-12 has the lowest GOR $$ distribution of any of the big 5, I read. If that is true then they don't have anything to offer anyone in the Big12, it would seem

I cannot disagree more. GT people believed Curry and they believed in Ross. Not sure what you mean by “you know it.”

Not sure if you were here during the Curry years but he instilled confidence - I was at every home game he coached and met him several times. I actually didn’t care for him personally but he was an All-American center for Dodd and hated losing more than any fan and that was obvious. He almost beat the dwags in 83 and decisively in 84 and in a razor thin margin game in 85. Enough for Bama to hire him.

I really don’t want to demean our current coach but even with Curry’s obvious deficiencies, he and Ross were light years ahead of Collins. Don’t even go there.

I support Collins (with conditions)- Curry would meet with Dodd after every game for a Master-Student meeting. Not everyone knows that. Ross didn’t need such meetings - he was already a Master. I spoke to Curry recruits that played for Ross and they hated Ross’ style for 87 and 88 but they came around and got on board and the rest is history.

So don’t act like you can take me to school about those two. I was there and on the inside.

I want CGC to be successful as much or more than any Tech fan but the hill is a lot steeper for Collins. Not entirely by his shortcomings but his shortcomings are not irrelevant.
