Expansion Rumors…

If that is the case, Stanford brings San Fran, top 5 market, Boston College, is in the 9th, Tech is 10th, Arizona schools bring Phoenix, the 12th biggest, and Miami is the 16th. Raleigh is still 24th.
Don't know where you're getting your data but here is 2021 data:

San Fran is 6
Atlanta is 7
Boston is 10
Phoenix is 11
Miami is 18
Raleigh is 24

There is only a 4,300 difference between SF and ATL. The ATL market appears to be growing much faster than any other market in the top 20.

Google, I hit the first list that popped up, now it doesn't pop up thes same. Anyway, not a lot of difference there, just pointing out Stanford, BC, and Miami have things that move the BIG10 also financially. Good news for Atlanta and Tech in your list though.

We’re trying to leverage one side against the other right now. I don’t think we’re as down as some people think, but we’re really hoping that either the Big 10 is really hungry to get into Atlanta or the SEC thinks they are and wants to prevent that. We’re basically waiting for someone to move and bring us in or someone to blink and we get left out.
I will say, I don’t see how we are less attractive than someone like UVA, Pitt, or Stanford.
When it comes to the big 2 in sports, GT is as down as people on other boards / national radio think. Not sure how 9 wins in 3 years in football, combined with 1 NCAAT appearance since Hewitt can be seen as anything otherwise.

The only factor in GT’s favor over say Pitt, BC, etc is Atlanta / state of Georgia. TV market, transplant city, hotbed for recruiting are the reasons why the B1G would seriously take GT. At this point, GT is the equivalent of Nebraska on the field for the B1G just with less attendance.

Take whatever opportunity presents itself and truly buy-in to trying to compete.

I believe the B1G Network rates are based on if a member school is in the same state, not metro area / TV market. So the remaining school attractiveness to the B1G network would be ranked:
1) New York - AAU members are SUNY Buffalo & Stony Brook, Columbia, NYU, Cornell and Rochester
2) Texas - no available AAU members
3) Florida - no AAU members (FSU and/or Miami)
4) GT = AAU
5) UNC = AAU
6) UVA = AAU

other than northwestern --- arent most big 10 schools big state universities? how does miami fit that?
Miami is a huge metro area and can move the Big 10 into south Florida. Compete with UF. Miami is flush with money now and already has a donor who has said he will finance building a stadium for Miami. Miami has tradition and has won national championships. Miami metro undoubtedly has a massive number of BIG10 transplants.

Duke? No ööööing way in hell. This isn't about basketball. Coach K is gone. Duke offers nothing. May as well invite Wake too if you invite Duke.

UNC? öööö them. They may be a solid maybe, but that's it.

Pitt fits in the footprint.

UVA has never done anything, ever.

What the heck are you talking about? Miami is not even AAU accredited.
Nobody gives a single öööö about that. If they did, Nebraska would be getting the boot from the BIG10. This is about revenue. Miami brings a TV market that will add revenue and brings interesting matchups that folks are going to tune in to watch.
Nobody gives a single öööö about UVA or Duke.

Dude, you are off the rails. You cite MSA population specifics as many others here have without the slightest acknowledgement of how many of those eyeballs give a flying flip about college football. Fine, lets tell the B1G to add a college football team in Tokyo because there are 37 million people in Tokyo.

Oh, Miami has 6.2 million people so its better than Atlanta because Atlanta only has 6,1 million. But GT isn't in Miami's league? Lemme ask you this - of the 6.x M people in ATL and Miami respectively, what do you think is the percentage of each that watches college football on Saturday.

ATL is full of football fans. Miami is full of transplants from Cuba and New York.

Sometimes, the right thing to do is raise your hand and let the coach know you need to sit on the bench for a bit.

I live in Tallahassee, and am around thousands of FSU boosters. If they can negotiate the GOR, I can tell you, they are gone!

F$U never wanted to be in the ACC in the first place so not surprised at what you suggest.

I’m going to Tally for our game this fall and will let you know what the top brass at F$U are thinking. I have a buddy inside the program who has his finger on the pulse of the program.

For the record I think both GT and Miami end up in the B1G. But I lived in Atlanta all my life and have been living in Miami for 2 years now, and I’ll say the amount of support and general affinity this city has for the Univerity of Miami is impressive for a small, private, city school. Atlanta is a mix of a lot of fanbases and no doubt has more college football fans, but I see primarily U öööö everywhere down here.

Funny enough I’ve seen more GT fans down here than most other schools outside of UF and FSU.

You’re mistaking wearing Da U stuff as a gang symbol for fan support.

“I know about their athletic history. I know they’re going to bring the TV market. So I’m very excited," Barta said of UCLA and USC. “I know the Big Ten has taken calls, and they inform us when they take calls just so we have a general idea," Barta said at a news conference. "But if I were predicting, I’m not predicting that we would be adding any more in the near future. We’ll see.” said AD Barta

I think the contract will be renegotiated but it seems it doesn’t matter how many people in Miami watch.

Like every other post here. Was there a point to your post?
Yes that we are second tier and not fourth tier which is better than I would have expected. i would say we are maybe 3rd tier. I had not seen any articles ranking all the ACC schools. Was suprised by Va Tech and Lousiville being rated so low. Maybe we do have some appeal. But only one guys opinion.
