Expansion Rumors…

And will still be a clear third wheel.

Yes. Any team would leave for the B1G/SEC. That might not be our choice though. We might be choosing between ACC with a bad contract (and GOR suicide pact) and a conference made up of the little 3 leftovers. Make sure the new conference has no GOR so that there is a better chance to move up. In the meantime, you earn more money.

We all know what’s coming. BIG will create a western division with all those teams. Then they’ll do the south. We should easily make the cut. I expect FSU/Clemson to go to the SEC. I expect us and Miami to the BIG. The unknown is where UNC and VT go.

Doesn’t make sense.

Since Miami joined the ACC in 2004, they’re about a game a year better than us on average (and that’s factoring in 4 3-win seasons from us). Omitting CGC, we win at almost the exact same rate. Plus, we have a couple of 11 win seasons to their one 10 win season, so we’ve demonstrated a higher ceiling in the ACC. They’re as middle of the pack as we are, coasting on swagger from the 80s plus beating up on the Big East.

They’re 3-11 in bowls over that stretch to our 4-9, and we have one ACC Championship in 4 ACCCG appearances to their 0 for 1, playing in the same division.

They sell a lot of merch, but don’t actually have many fans, and the fans they have are terrible. It’s hard to figure what they really bring to the table.

Two things:
1) State of Florida for B1G network cable tv revenue
2) TV ratings, I am guessing Miami is a bigger draw than GT.

If the B1G wants to go to 20 teams......If the GOR is broken, then I would guess the B1G would want:
1) FSU or Miami
2) UNC
3) GT
4) UVA

If the GOR holds, I would guess they will take:
1) Notre Dame
2) Stanford or Cal
3) Oregon
4) Washington

Or they could go to 24 teams and take all of the above....or 28 teams and take:
1) Clemson
2) Syracuse
3) BC
4) VPI&SU

If they want to go to 30 teams:
1) Stanford or Cal (whoever is not selected earlier
2) Miami or FSU (whoever is not selected earlier)

Taking Miami AND FSU makes some sense in terms of giving those teams one nearby in-state rival to play in addition to the rest of the Big 10 schedule.

GT and Clemson are closer to FSU than Miami (possibly UNC too).

The B1g could go ahead as posted and add Wash/Ore/Cal/Stan/Colo/USC/UCLA and swallow the old Pac10 as 8 team western division. They don't need to come south at all.

So other notes out there are that the sources also said they could take an uneven number of teams and there isn't a specific number that the B1G is going for. To me that reads like that they'll take whichever institution they see as the right fit.

And if they're taking a huge swath of the PAC, wouldn't be unreasonable that they try to go for a large southern presence in the ACC. It's curious that the source said they were looking at UM and FSU. Is FSU a better school than Clemson? Maybe Clemson has already pawed their name in blood on an SEC contract somewhere.

FSU brings more TV sets at in-state rates to the B1G TV contract.

They would do just as well dumping Cal and UCLA and replacing them with Utah and Arizona.

Yes, exactly what I just said.

And it wouldn't kill UCLA. UCLA would still serve the actual purpose of being a university.

Playing in the BIG10 for any California school is stupid, ultimately, and makes life more difficult for those in the team who are actual students. But, money rules the roost of CFB now more than ever so enjoy that trip to play Northwestern or Minnesota or Wisconsin in November, USC. Time change, cold, shorter daylight hours, long hours of travel. Stupid.
Have you ever been to Pullman, Boulder, Salt Lake City, Eugene or even Seattle in November? Pretty much the same weather. Traveling to Pullman, Washington is a journey for any P12 school. I think you’re forgetting the travel time in the current P12. Not many drivable destinations like there are in the B1G, SEC, B12 and ACC. Plus, USC plays in South Bend every other year right now anyway.

The only sports this really hampers USC, UCLA on are volleyball, etc.

The B1G already told Oregon and the Huskies to go fly a kite. Now those 2 are candidates?

Shut the hell up Brett McMurphy. This is why I hate Twitter.
It was "sources". Hell, the guy at the Quickie Stop could be a source.

Bullshit it is. None of those cities compares to a Wisconsin or Minnesota winter.
