We need to do more when we do these anniversary things, besides playing a little video and rushing them on and off the field during a commercial. Highlight videos every quarter, announce people by name, maybe get a coach or team leader to talk a little. Hype it up!

Won't be my first. I like blue pants.Careful you're gonna get a clown from somebody.
Welcome SMU to the world of conference bias.
The reason for it, like most things, comes down to money.
The SEC and BIG-X, generally speaking, have the most eyeballs and the most butts in the seats. Their fans buy the most tickets, merchandise, and products from advertisers.
So everything else being somewhat equal, the people that make the choices will go with the programs with bigger following.
There should be some kind of distillation process that is based more on merit, but at least a 12 team playoff is a step in the right direction... I guess.... maybe.... we'll see....maybe.
Ehh... I don't disagree at all that they are going to follow the $$ but they obviously got it right getting tOSU in the playoff. That was just a tough year to get the correct 4. FSU was the only undefeated team but clearly the weakest of the 4, and you couldn't leave them out. Alabama, Oregon, and tOSU had better resumes than TCU after championship week. They were hoping one of FSU, Oregon, Alabama, or tOSU would lose the conference championship to make it simple but it didn't happen, and tOSU beat #13 Wisconsin in the B1G championship 59-0. TCU didn't even win the B12 because their lone loss was to Baylor who finished with the same record and the B12 didn't have a championship game at that point. In the first year of the CFP, TCU was #3 in the country and obliterated their final opponent but got voted down to #5 in the last week to make way for a B10 team with 100k seats in their stadium.
Follow the $$$.

That B1G team (tOSU) won the CFP NC. And you left out Baylor (who beat TCU) if you’re going to call out TCU. Both finished 11-1.If the 12 team playoff was about merit, we wouldn't be allowing the possibility of rematches. It'd be conference/division champs like in the NFL.
It was always about $$$ which is why "amateur sports" are ridiculous. They told us for years and years a playoff couldn't work because it'd affect final exams. Then the BCS drew abysmally low TV ratings one year and the CFP was approved in less than 12 months. $$$ is also the reason Terelle Pryor got to play in the Rose Bowl but was banned from 4 games against patsies the following season when he was caught blatantly breaking NCAA rules.
