Is this what Chan Gailey was like?

So any comment on this?
Gailey would not have gone for it on 4th down at end of 1st half. Or most of the other times Key went for it on 4th today. Gailey wouldn't have called the screen deep in his own end that resulted in an Lville TD. He would have tried the same FG that got blocked and returned for a TD. Those three plays were the difference. Lville's defense won this game. We couldn't run for 1 yd in several situations, and King was under pressure in the pocket all day. But I don't think we were hamstrung by overly conservative play calls.

Here’s the thing with both coaches. Good enough to get us to a level where every game is both winnable and lose able. O’Leary and Johnson took us above that level. Gailey was given 7 years to do it and didn’t. Key will have more years to prove or disprove himself. The ball is in his court to decide his fate.

Chan Gailey era was this- Lose games you were supposed to win, win games you were supposed to lose..and never beat ugag.

No. Chan Gailey had way more talent except at QB than this team has. Especially on defense. For Brent Key that talent is coming. Chan was much more trustworthy or at least predictable in big time decisions. Brent Key is not.

Chan told me point blank that winning the ACC was more important than beating the dwags. He compared it to the NFL where games outside of the Division you were in just weren't that important.

He actually said that.

So when someone suggests we are in Chanville, knowing how Key values beating the dwags, I just don't know how to respond to that.

Did He say that to you before or after wake?

My dad and me met him like 2013 in Chick Fil A in banks crossing dad had a sour look on his face I understand why now.
Glad you pointed that out. Unlike the clown we just got rid of that surrendered 70 points to JMU, Chan Gailey was a man of impeccable character. You could not not like the man personally.

So all the hard feelings around here are limited to his coaching. He was an NFL coach in charge of a college football team. The real irony of his tenure was this:. He was amazingly good at certain things and amazingly bad at others and those two extremes exactly cancelled each other out and consistently equalled 7 wins.

Have said it many times. Chan was just one talented QB away. Think about if he had Haynes King or a Josh Nesbitt. He would have had ACC championships and beaten UGA for sure.

Hell he probably could have won with Jeff Sims.

Or if he had actually developed a qb. Reggie wasn’t terrible he had talent. And he displayed it over multiple wins over auburn, vt, Miami and Clemson. He was basically the same as a freshman as he was as a senior.

Come on now....Sims!?

Chan had Nesbitt. He burned a year of eligibility for a couple of pointless QB keepers.

Chan had plenty of time to prove he could develop a college QB. He couldn’t. Ralph or Johnson would have done wonders Reggie.
