Yes. I find inherent problems in a system where espn is involved in every aspect of college football. They are the go-to media outlet for sports info. Then they influence attention, rankings, recruiting, etc through their media coverage AND marketing of games under their control. Then they are interested in the bowl game matchups because they own significant interests in those bowls and have tv for them. And the fact that it was years ago that espn decided that the sec was its horse and the ACC was going to be a loss leader is a huge problem. If true, Jim Phillips should be hiring a band of lawyers to go after Disney, right? I mean you seem to believe there is some form of a smoking gun proving that Disney is doing something to “actively diminish the conference’s standing” vs the other conference’s.
Honest question. Do you think the ACC could get another TV partner to pay what Disney is paying (which also includes taking over the ACCN)? I’d say yes, if they could have kept FSU from doing everything to leave.
