Johnson recruit real goodOkay seriously, I am not *trying* to get a bunch of big cry replies, but I have to say the NFL draft the past few years is our dead canary in the coal mine. Our talent level is seriously below par and trending downward.
UDFA's, camp invites, tryouts, tc:
Simmons to Bucs
Burden to Browns rookie minicamp
Corey Griffin to 49ers
KeShun Freeman to Ravens camp
Austin twins get tryout with falcons
Jeune to the Rams
I wonder sometimes if some of our guys would work harder to get to the league if they didn't have a worthwhile degree to fall back on. Some of these guys that got drafted had to either make it to the league or..... Most of our guys should have a pretty respectable career even if they never play on Sunday.

The talent gap is real people. Johnson’s system can too easily be negatively recruited. Couple that with conditions that put Tech at a recruiting disadvantage anyway and you’ve found the recipe for 2/3 losing seasons...not sure what we do, but there clearly is a problem, which should cover step 1 of the program.
Three Stripe Life will get our guys looks moving forward. Adiboost in talent.
The incentive to get to the league is pretty high. The minimum salary of an NFL player is going to be many multiples higher than your average engineer or business major. There degree will still be there after you retire from the league.
You're kidding yourself if you think >25% of the players take school seriously. Unless things have changed since I was at school and *very* close to the GTAA, football players were there to play football and school was just an annoying requirement. Yes, our academic floor is much higher than other FBS schools, but still these guys just wanted to ball and nearly everyone of them thought they had a shot in the NFL, no matter how unrealistic their chances.I wonder sometimes if some of our guys would work harder to get to the league if they didn't have a worthwhile degree to fall back on. Interesting take. Our RS Senior class has two of the worst years Since the BL disaster. A talent gap would explain that.
But they also have the best record against UGa since the peak OLeary years. They have two of the best seasons post BL.
Part of the talent gap is the offense. It is hard to recruit OL and QB with NFL measurables in this system. Toss in that the ABs have almost zero chance at the nfl due to size, and your pool of draft prospects drops a good bit.
There is no rule that says we have to recruit undersized players. We could run this system just as well, and more than likely better with players who have NFL measurables.
We don’t recruit shorties because that’s what the system calls for, we recruit shorties because that is who is willing to play in the system once the factories pass them over.
Yeah, it seems we could at least be getting outstanding B-back talent.
We've all been through the QB argument enough times.
I think you make a good point about the QB and AB's; but the last few years we've upsized the OL and had OL guys make the transition to the league.
And where’s he now? If he was so good someone would have picked him upWe had a preseason all ACC running back last year at B-back.
