JEFF MONKEN

Interesting that we bring up MTSU. Are people really comparing losing to an 8-win team with an NFL RB to losing to below average FCS teams and getting shut out 3 of our last 4 games?

Do any of you know how many times Paul Johnson got shut out in 11 years?

I know PJ ended our bowl streak & our streak of non-losing seasons. Also destroyed our bowl winning %.
I never got the impression that PJ actually liked GT. For a guy who never played a down of football, he came across as a real knowitall asshole. Between that and his archaic offense and hatred of defense....no wonder kids didn't want to come here.
Good riddance. We can win without a gimmick.

Attitudes like that are what got us Geoff Collins. I agree that we don’t need a gimmick (like Collins’ shtick) which is why I want someone who can coach, like the last guy we had. If that’s Monken, sign him up. If not, find someone who can. We don’t need another marketing hire.

Lazy hiring is what got us Collins. We were going downhill with CPJ and we made it worse by hiring a coach who couldn't have sniffed another P5 job offer.

Collins may never be able to coach again after this, definitely not head coach. I don't blame him one bit for trying to maximize his buyout. I think his words now are nothing more than him just going through some motions awaiting a buyout

We don't need another TO retread either. Monken should retire at Army.

Don't blame me for clown & I won't blame PJ fans for helping bottom out the program. The guy quit on us.

Collins shouldn't coach a HS team. He doesn't know fundamentals, he coaches in fear, and his teams don't improve. He needs to do radio or something but that's all. He & Key both. Couple of losers

The problem at GT is the AD and the Hill.
The right coach will follow after that...
Miss Drad.

I'm not making any arguments about Collins being a good coach. But Monken has lost to frigging Coastal Carolina and UTSA and you're trying to make the case that this is the guy we need? That's pretty damn stupid.
with a roster of guys who are going to be doing gunnery and small unit field problems at Fort Polk or Fort Stewart or Fort Wainwright, not with NFL aspirations.

No. Moken is a trash coach and not 1 former player at GT liked him while he was here. Stop bringing this bum’s name up
Forgive me if I don’t take the former players’ opinions very seriously for about two decades.

We were not going downhill. We were arguably improving in both roster talent and results in 2016-2018. We weren’t beating two teams who lost a combined 6 games over 3 years and won 2 national titles. That was the problem.

If we go to the Bone we lose all future of surviving in the power 5 format. That is playing and beating the best.
Was just saying this to someone earlier tonight. I will be a Tech fan until I get what's coming to me and there isn't any number or type of defeats that will change that. I love being a Tech fan even if it's a ööööing stupid waste of my goddamn time öööö öööö. But if we were to go back to the bone/option now, after everything we have gone through, I would know that Tech itself has abandoned any notion of playing to win. The games will immediately become far less stressful because there will no longer be any reason to get emotionally worked up over it. Every loss will be par for the course.

I don't think there is anything inherently wrong with playing to play, rather than to win. But if Tech goes back to the option now, they will still continue to tell high school recruits and fans and any sucker who will believe them, that they are playing to win, which will be a lie. If you have to be a loser, don't be a liar too.

Look, we are both sidewalk fans here. And as far as I can tell care more than some grads. Bottom line is our support means exactly öööö when you compare it to 100 plus years of history and success. That’s why I’ll look any grad who doesn’t care in the eye and call them on their öööö. It ööööing matters for Christ sake. We had a coach who practically invented the modern game. Athletics at Tech IS FOOTBALL as far as I’m concerned. How did they forget?

I got onto StingTalk when I was 14, without a gatech.edu email address. I received free tickets to my first Tech game as a Junior Jacket when I was 14, a year or two over the limit at the time. They'll let me onto their campus, unsupervised, with a game ticket and alcohol on a Saturday morning. Tech grads are not as smart as they think they are.
