Johnson/Option Haters - You are forgiven

I still can't believe we let John Heisman walk over a stupid marital issue and we got stuck with Alexander for the next 24 damn years.
We shouldn't have had to have the wrong way Regals play to win that Rose Bowl. Bad coaching. I was there. I remember coit behind me wouldn't shut the hell up about "run the flying wedge!" - which was already illegal.

IF he had run in the right direction the entire trajectory of the program would have changed. Hell, the forward pass might never have been invented.

If only Paul Johnson could beat Duke. 5 (FIVE) consecutive losses. I’ll bet you Key changes that trend this Saturday. Drop it dude. He’s gone.
What a strange stat to cherrypick. We were 7-4 against Duke under CPJ, in arguably their best stretch of football in the modern era. Not exciting by any stretch, but far from evidence that CPJ was washed up. Hell, we beat Duke by 24 points in 2013 - one of the best seasons in their school history.

The juice crew picked up on Duke because CGC was 2-1 against them. Duke was one of 2 ACC teams that CGC was able to beat twice, the other being Louisville; but they couldn't circle the wagons around a Louisville victory because CPJ beat UL by 35 points in 2018. Therefore, the juice crew makes legendary claims about CGC beating Duke in 2020 & 2021 and CPJ having lost to Duke in 2017 & 2018. Never mind that Duke went from 8-5 in 2018 when CPJ lost, to 2-9 in 2020 when CGC won his impressive victory.

At some point in the next 15 years a young innovative coach will be hired at a P5 program who will use the flex bone principals but will market it in a way where 4 stars are drawn to it and he’ll win big, Johnson was his own worst enemy as he never fought the BS rhetoric and he never tweaked his system when it was obvious that it was getting blown up. He had the right idea with adding wrinkles with Vad from the gun but he never followed thru. I love the guy but he caused the whimper of his retirement by not adding wrinkles which would have helped his recruiting.

As someone
For most of America, Georgia Tech hasn't bee interesting or relevant in about 4 years. Hopefully that's about to change.
As someone who lives outside of Georgia, you would be surprised how many people don't realize CPJ was no longer the coach and we no longer run the options. That's how irrelevant Tech as been, when you're not winning games they don't talk about you on ESPN or show highlights of your team with the ball. We are nobody's biggest rival so you end up like Purdue where people know you exist, but that's about all they know...

There’s an espn article about Jimbos struggles at A&M with a quote from a recruit. The quote is something about Texas has the scheme but not the players while A&M has the players but not the scheme.

Recruit then says that A&M “runs the wishbone or something.” The kid therefore committed to Texas.

While completely untrue, this shows how the “wishbone” affects recruiting.

Cool story bro. Now tell us why our recruiting has suffered the past 4 years.

I did not know the name of the Wisconsin coach until he got fired this week. All I know about Purdue is they have a giant bass drum with the letter P on it.

Does Jimbo run anything resembling it though?

I genuinely have never noticed. I thought he's a 11 or 12 personnel/spread option kinda dude.

Oh boo-hooo. We should keep kicking the CGC juice crew in the nuts until at least the end of the season, and probably until the next guy has a chance to rebuild the roster. Heck, we had one juice crew guy in the Pitt game day thread wishing we had Pnope back. Now y'all suddenly want to bar talking about previous coaches after 3 seasons of blaming all our ills on the previous coach. :shtstir:

No, he didn't. I stand by my stance they we likely would have beaten them in 2008/2009 with Chan at the helm.

If you are pissed off at losing 2009, despite having a better team the UGAg, then I don't know what to say. Tenuta would have eaten that gagger team alive in 2009.

But, we beat UGAg and started our slow descent into mediocrity, save a few years. I don't recall Chan breaking the bowl streak nor having a losing record.
LOL. So you prefer a mediocre Tech team that never wins a big bowl or championship and always always always loses to uga. Maybe you are the real mutt fan???
