Labor Day game - How bad is FSU

Huh? GT gets credit for beating a top 10 team on their resume. That’s just how it works. It’s always worked that way in this dumbass sport regardless of the method for ranking teams.
In the record books GT beat a faux Top 10 team, no question. But when the CFP Rankings roll around, FSU sucking will only hurt GT’s SOS component. Take a look at the remaining 10 games. They may win 3 on paper at this point based on how bad they look across the OL, DL, WR and QB positions.

This is true but in reality we have no control over how good or bad other teams are. Take care of business each week and the rest will take care of itself and all that. Football as a whole is messed up these days but it still has a way of weeding out folks who don't deserve to be there. Seems like Key is working to make sure we do.

Maybe FSU isn't that bad and it's just that the GOL coaching tree has the blueprint.

In 1990, did Tech beat a #1 UVA team or a #23 UVA team?

The last 20 years of SEC success is predicated on the only correct answer to that question.

When an unranked SEC team knocks off a ranked one it’s because the SEC is so good and both teams deserve to be ranked now. When an unranked ACC team knocks off a ranked one it’s because the ACC is so bad and neither should be ranked.

Good point. Beyond their own personal connection (of which I’m not sure) I’m sure ACC coaches are sharing as much intel as possible when it comes to FSU
Pretty sure they know each other and both call GOL mentor.

Correct. It's been that way forever in CFB but SEC took it next level.

Only loser Tech fans look at what happened last night and rationalize it in a manner that öööös on their own team's accomplishment.

im all for fighting for the conference perception.. but maybe we make it to the b1g soon enough and acc perception doesnt matter

one thing is for sure... THIS year we dont have to worry about our SoS as we have plenty of top 10 teams still on our schedule no matter how bad the ACC is...

that said.. we will likely be screwed if you compare our resume of 2 or 3 losses with an SEC team with the same record we will be left out of the top 12 unless of course one of our wins is against #1

100% agreed. Which is why Polls after week 1 mean nothing. Just win and the rest will fall into place.

You can’t be serious enough to believe FSU is any good at this point are you? Come on already. The eye test after 2 games shows how truly deficient they are across OL, DL, WR, QB. They will really need to improve 100-fold during the “bye week” to have a shot against Memphis at this rate.

You can’t win National Championships based on “perceived” strength. Alabama was Alabama. tOSU, Clemson, etc won because they were the best team who made the CFP and showed it on the field.

The only garbage MNC game was Alabama-LSU which created the 4 team CFP. From there the CFP had 2 good years in the old 4 team format. 2014, 2023. Who knows what the 12-team CFP will look like in the end, but it’s better than a 4 team Playoff.

It's not just about NCs. Being ranked at the end of the season means something. And perception is a part of that.

You have to win the games against other leagues though. ACC as a whole has had a hard time accomplishing that. Do you agree? Take uga out of the picture recently, and you still have UofL for example losing consistently now to UK. That’s inexcusable. VT losing to Vandy. Inexcusable.

This year’s FSU is for all intents and purposes the same team that lost to UGA by 60 points.

Both effects are present. SEC gets their package fluffed every week, year in, year out. No matter who they beat or didn’t beat out of conference. That has an effect in the polls.

Perception is reality when you lose head-to-head games. Just is. And the B1G, sec are clearly better than the ACC, B12 right now. This is in GT’s favor at the moment.

reality is the ACC had a winning record against SEC last year but nobody cares because SEC
