Make your case in defense of Geoff Lewis here

He’s literally only still employed for 3 weeks of decent basketball at the end of 5 years. That’s it.

But it’s a banner
And our first in a very long time
He bought himself time with that

But back to our original premise:
Collins sucks. Like a Cuban stripper at wackos
I’m tired of his BS. I’m tired of this whole damn staff. All of em

okkkkkk…..but it took him exact until the end of 5 years

Collins only gets 2.1

That don’t make no sense

I agree that those who are looking to fire Collins are being a bit premature. He has until the end of this season to prove his worth. He has next season and the one after to miraculously save his job if the results are subpar. That’s similar to the Pastner situation. I personally don’t see the same level of ineptitude, but it’s much easier to follow football game to game than basketball.

I'm not completely sold on our S&C coach either. I think they guys are in pretty good shape; but our OL and DL wasn't overpowering anyone last night, and that was against a MAC team. Are our linemen doing the same workouts as our skill players?

I liked the strip/fumble. I think our DL problem is technique. I don’t know if Marco can coach guys with a talent gap that he never experienced.

For OL, I get the feeling that Key and Pat are not on the same page and that is affecting the offense.

This all day. Not to take the focus off our horrible football coach. But our horrible basketball coach still sucks. Don't let the shiny ACC championship that occurred during the biggest pandemic in 100 years, during the worst year of ACC basketball in history fool you into thinking Pastner suddenly became Dean Smith. He sucked at Memphis and continued to suck year after year here until this miraculous February/March. I haven't looked, please tell me we didn't give him a raise and extension. Paul Hewitt 2.0 if we did...

Player development though

We get it. Enough of the shtick in every thread. Collins is going to get 5 years either way, so just give it a rest

After spending a rather enjoyable basketball season with incessant posts diminishing what Pastner and the team did, are we now going to have to endure another losing, perhaps horrific football season with posts in the football forum attacking Pastner’s first few years? Pastner, Collins, Hall, Fortner - they coach different sports. Love ‘em or hate ‘em if you want, but comparing them is not an apples to apples comparison. The ovation for the basketball team last night indicates that most GT students, alums and fans really appreciated the 2020-2021 basketball season.

Oh my god. Just kill yourself please. Absolutely. I’m so ööööing tired of hearing your öööö. Neither deserve it but we cheer for an assholes worth of decision makers. So shut the öööö up. Seriously öööö off.

Young coach making young coach bad decisions

while I love his passion and he’s a very likable guy, great marketing man, I need him to be a coach. I think he will learn I just hope it’s soon and not with another team.

Jesus. Can you take the Pastner hate to the hoops forum?
Pastner took over a pretty broken program. Collins didn't.
Pastner said "we need to get old." He didn't talk about all those years being ranked and playing New Year's Day bowls and having NFL players blah blah blah.
Pastner didn't lose to Citadel. Or 1-win Syracuse. Or a team that didn't beat anybody the year before. Pastner wasn't winning but our losses under Collins have been some of the worst in Tech football history. And that's saying something.

He's not a young coach. Long time assistant (so he should have been taking notes) and a fifth year as a DI head coach.

I was with PJ his whole first year as a HC (actually, his whole first two). He was 40. Younger than when Collins was made head coach. Less time as an assistant than Collins.
He was ready. He didn't miss a trick.

I've said it once, I'll say it again: You're making that kind of money and you're a P5 coach, there is no learning curve. You better know what you're doing from the start.
Period.

Lol wut? Collins took over a dumpster fire

How old is Lane Kiffin?

The talent gap is Marco. Everyone go look up coaching experience of our current staff. Key isn’t doing so hot and Pat neither. Instead of worrying about a lack of skill with the players...the lack of experience of the coaching staff is glaringly weak.

This play has little chance of ever working. Maybe in NBA Jam.

Agreed. We’ve got all these guys flexing and showing how ripped they are under our new S&C program but the OL is still getting blown up and DL had -0- sacks against a bad MAC OL.
