Make your case in defense of Geoff Lewis here

The very same people crying to fire Collins after 2.1 years are the exact same idiots who sat in the basketball forum constantly defending and coddling Pastner for approximately 4.75 years.

Watching the double standard take place is amazing
Dude, stfu posting the same stupid öööö all over the board.

My defense of Geoff Collins is this. He can recruit and the players seem to like him. Give him good offensive and defensive coordinators and let him be the face of the program while the assistants run everything. One of the assistants will be "coach in waiting" (waiting for Geoff's contract to run out).

He'd have to very hands off, and it means that he's going to be limited on the x and o. Not against it, but that's a thought gig when so much of the team looks unprepared.

Lol wut? Collins took over a dumpster fire
He took over a bowl team. He was left an entire starting offensive line. And 7-8 4 star kids (per Rivals), either freshmen or sophomores or in the commit class. And no, that doesn't include Griffin. Does include Yates.
Pastner took over a dumpster fire. And I met Gregory and liked him. But it was a dumpster fire.
It's one thing to go 12-17 in a league that has Virginia, UNC, Duke, Louisville, Syracuse, plus rising teams Va Tech and FSU and the only real doormats are Wake (how did that happen?) and BC.
Clown is 6-17. Hasn't beaten a winning team. 14 losses by double digits. And those by one possession include a loss to The Citadel, Virginia (back in 2019. That's his best loss. Great) and to a Northern Illinois team that hadn't won a game since Nov. 26, 2019.
Hell, Georgia Southern canned a guy midway through his second season because they saw he didn't know what the hell he was doing.

Oh, never f'in mind. You're so much smarter and more prescient than everybody else. We'll just bow down to your love of CGC and enmity toward Pastner (who really is a good guy from the folks I know who have dealt with him, whereas Collins runs and hides, like blowing off the Savannah Quarterback Club two years ago and gives BS for such things as the Narduzzi handshake flap.)
How you do anything is how you do everything. Right, coach?

How you do anything is how you do everything. Right, coach?

Lol….Collins inherited a bunch of FCS caliber kids. I’m not listening to anyone who thinks Collins inherited anything but a complete rebuild. Ridiculous

I didn't realize that 14 of CGC's 17 losses have been by double digits, and the three single-digit losses were to Citadel, NIU and UVA. Yet another damning statistic. There are so many to choose from.

Well, you done officially lost me. That don't make no sense.
He’s saying we used to have FCS players that could beat BCS teams, now we don’t have all the elite P5 players we need so we’ll struggle beating bottom feeders like NIU until we can get a 3 deep roster of 4 and 5 stars in here. Just be patient we’re 5 years of misery away from 6-6.

we were 10-12 vs the FBS the two years before Collins started. 20-25 the four years before.

Our talent had tanked and we were heading in a bad direction. This is why Johnson quit. He said he’d quit when it wasn’t fun anymore and losing wasn’t fun and the future was full of it.

two things can be true:
1) our program was not in a good place when he took over with historically low talent levels.
2) Collins is a lousy gameday coach

Well… I’m a ride or die Tech fan. Doubt has certainly crept into my mind in regards to the direction of the program, but I will support them regardless. I used my 24hr grace period to bitch and moan about a very bad loss. That time is up, and I’m ready to cheer for the white and gold this Saturday.

As far as defending Geoff, he’s doing a lot of positive off the field things, in spite of losing way too many football games. I still expect a bowl game. That’s the bar that I’ve set for the 2021 team. Anything less will be disappointing. He better get these guys playing with a fire in their bellies quickly to get this thing turned around. I guarantee you KSU is licking their chops at the opportunity to take down a large in-state school.

@knoxjacket It’s fashionable to demean our old players as being FCS, but we won games with them. “We” bet on better players and better coaches and a better offensive scheme getting us from 7.5 wins/yr to 9. It’s hard to imagine these elite players winning 5 now. Looks like we’re o’fer on the upgrades.

In no way is a slightly less than .500 team when including bowl games, a dumpster fire.

is it a great place to be? No. Is it a dumpster fire? Hell no.

Johnson quit because he had no management support. He had tolerance. There was no belief in his system and it was being blamed for being unable to do the AD’s job: fundraise.

Those kids won more than 3 games.
Which kids?

We lost our QB who was basically a one man team. Mostly because he couldn’t pass and wouldn’t pitch.

We returned ONE touchdown reception.

We lost everyone on the team with more than 1 sack.

We lost our top three tacklers and six of the top 10.

We lost our top 4 tacklers on the defensive line.

not sure why you would expect much from a mediocre team that lost a ton of production.

Let's be honest with each other: Any CPJ coached team, at any school, at any talent level, would kick the öööö out of a CGC coached team
He couldn’t beat Butch Jones who is essentially the same all hype no coaching guy as Collins.

that was at the time the worst Tennessee team in the history of the program.
