Official post-game bitch session

Yeah. Because the states and NCAA would lose the NIL fight. Have you not paid attention to cases by the University of Tennessee etc over the past few years? The NCAA says “no” to anything NIL related, and every school they say “no” to threatens a lawsuit and the NCAA folds. Once the Supreme Court said “eff you” to the corrupt NCAA, it was over for the NCAA.

The gist of my comment was, they are paid now and not "kids".

I haven’t changed my opinion on Key. He’s an excellent motivator and a solid recruiter, and he understands GT. We always knew he wasn’t a strong Xs and Os guy.

I’m a little concerned about Buster, though. As soon as King goes down, we go from a top 25 offense to a bottom 25 offense. We aren’t loaded, but we have enough talent not to be entirely reliable on a single player to make game-breaking plays to win us the game.

Getting beat is one thing when you play hard and it just doesn’t go your way. we are a long way from that right now. We are playing like complete ass again and beating ourselves due to lack of discipline and questionable coaching. Sorry I’m unwilling to accept that like you apparently are.

Just because I don’t come here and whine about every little thing doesn’t mean I accept it.

We were missing King and Alexander today. Don’t you think that had something to do with the outcome?

Plus Efford, multiple tight ends. Jamal Haynes almost left the game and prob didn’t catch a first down because he would be lit up. We are beat up. But fire Key right? These people are freaking out

Damn, negative Nancy, we’ve shown plenty of hope this year. We’ve had losses where our (newly installed) defense couldn’t adjust (Cuse). Where our ST completely öööö the bed (UL). And where we got physically out matched. Today our O crapped out with QB2 & QB3.

With the exception of ST, we’ve improved on earlier mistakes. This year’s team would beat last year’s team. And that was true last year. We are improving. We still need some bigger receivers. And we need more LB.
I see no way this team of this year beats the team we were in the Gasparilla bowl. We improved all along last year. This year we have not. Sure, King has thrown less picks but it’s because we’ve gone conservative and played meh offense. Jamaal has fallen off the map this season. King had 27 TD passes last season. He has 8 so far this year. The only area we have improved as a team is on defense. Offense and special teams have taken steps back. And the intangibles just aren’t there. We can get it back next year but it takes more than words in press conferences. We have become a soft team with little fight. All we can do is have faith the coaches will get the fight back into the team.

It's on Key to build depth though. A (hypothetical) 5 game slide to end the season would be on him regardless of why it happened. We also get 2 bye weeks so we'll see.

It’s hard to build depth over 1 class. I think he’s gonna be doing well if this recruiting. Lads holds together

I'm still looking for the apologies several of you owe me, gentlemen :dunno:
Cry all you want... I told you he's not the guy. Probably the same guys telling me I should give Clown "time" after that öööö loss to Citadel. Keep ööööing crying.

Not sure Philo is the guy either. Good zip on his passes but doesn't look dual threat and a bunch of his passes were off target. Maybe his accuracy and decisionmaking will improve but there is nothing to do about the running ability

King is the guy

It's what the portal is for. Also, and not specifically you, some people act like our talent level was commensurate with the 3 wins we were getting before. The cupboard was not completely bare when he took over; coaching was more the issue than talent or depth. Also will say again, if Key thinks he's going to hold on to his job through recruiting good high schools, doubt he will be correct. It's possible this (potential) recruiting class would have to contribute a lot as true freshmen to keep Key around.

Philo looked like other QB’s on ranked teams we’ve watched all season. He’s gonna be good.

It is on the coaches to prepare the entire team to win games. Injuries will always happen and can not be used as an excuse.

Key even said it at the beginning of the season - we only get 12 games. There are no excuses. If a backup is not prepared to perform then that is a coaching issue (whether it’s practice reps or a recruiting issue). Today our coaches failed at preparing the players and executing the game plan.

As good as the defense looked, we got absolutely clowned on some trick plays and blown coverages for 21 points, so I can’t get too excited about it - those plays counted, too.

Not sure what Pyron’s issue was - I feel like he’s better than he’s been playing. Philo looked pretty ready and collected when he came in.

I hate that we’re so beat up. Maybe we’ll get well during the bye, but I feel like the Miami game is going to be ugly anyway.

I can’t really figure out what we’re trying to do on offense. Some frustrating calls today, especially multiple no-hope runs on 3rd and 10+.

Didn’t we call a timeout when VPI was lining up for an XP? What in the world was that about?

How many teams have you seen this year who have lost their starting QB and not missed a beat? Heck, Michigan, FSU, Auburn, etc can’t even figure out 1 QB at this point. So King’s injury is not an excuse, it’s a major impact.

The real issue isn’t just playing a backup QB. The running game against middle to good teams just hasn’t really shown up well this year. That goes back to the play of the OL. Something is just off right now. Or it very well could be, teams have a year + worth of tape / scouting to prepare for GT’s blocking schemes.
