I get what you’re saying too. But GT hasn’t really had a bad loss this year. GT didn’t lose to FSU, and unfortunately didn’t play Wake. But GT did take care of business late against UNC. Unfortunately, the catalyst of the O went down injured, and may or may not be back. So while I agree with you as it relates to the offense, I do see the opposite from the D. The D is vastly better overall vs what we’ve seen for 15+ years. Add some front 7 depth, and iron out some of the O issues and 2025 can be that breakout year. We’ll see how the last 3 regular season games play out, combined with NSD and the Portal.

12 months from now if GT is 5-4 after 9 games, I’ll have concern more so than now.

King was a low risk, high reward Portal addition due to his injuries at TAMU, and it 100% worked out in GT’s favor. I have a feeling someone like Oregon may come calling in December.

I guess my point is with the game being that way, a good recruiting class doesn't feel like it's as strong a reason to hold on to someone as it used to be. Though as you point out, what sort of team Key is able to maintain/assemble will be a big part of judging him.

As a cynical addendum, not sure you are even guaranteed 1 year if a redshirt is available and a player chooses to sit.

He's a good stop gap between the clown and the next coach. I think he's good for six or seven wins a year but we'll get tired of that soon just like we did with Gailey.

Not talking about a cap by the garbage corrupt NCAA. P4 CFB needs a commissioner, combined with a real hard cap, and contracts for SA’s for all schools. Every single HC is in favor of getting this chaos under control. Once a hard cap and contracts are in place, real NIL numbers between SA’s and businesses will start to normalize. Especially when businesses see the ROI isn’t really worth the rumored $$$ being paid.

Damn, negative Nancy, we’ve shown plenty of hope this year. We’ve had losses where our (newly installed) defense couldn’t adjust (Cuse). Where our ST completely öööö the bed (UL). And where we got physically out matched. Today our O crapped out with QB2 & QB3.

With the exception of ST, we’ve improved on earlier mistakes. This year’s team would beat last year’s team. And that was true last year. We are improving. We still need some bigger receivers. And we need more LB.

Is Key an example of the Peter Principle? I too, am not calling for his head like I did with Clown. Maybe he'll grow into it. But I just don't see him being the true leader a head guy needs to be. Yes, a good #2. But something is amiss. Pyron has regressed. He's a much better qb than what we have witnessed these last two weeks. Right now, we have to lean on Philo until King is healthy. I still haven't heard what the deal is with Efford. Again, that's due to a coach playing games.

Singleton would probably be better off playing CB in terms of projecting to the next level. He's very physically gifted, but he's a bit too prone for drops because he lets the ball come into his body and isn't the best at adjusting to the ball in the air to give himself easier catches. There's a lot of small things he can do better to make himself a bigger and more reliable target rather than simply relying on speed and agility to create separation.

1991: 8-5
1998: 10-2

2006: 9-5
2008: 9-4
2009: 11-3
2011: 8-5

2016: 9-4

8+ win seasons consistently annually by the majority of the P4 isn’t exactly easy.

GT needs to stabilize the program. Not become over reactive to a lesser extent like Auburn, UF. CBK deserves 5 years to prove himself.

And we ran off our hall of fame coach that got 5 of those in his 11 seasons at the flats. Maybe we deserve what we are getting now.
 
Also--i think the CROWD was an intimidatingly factor. Just imagine what a FULL house cheering for you at BDS would be like! (yeah--dream on)!

Yeah. Because the states and NCAA would lose the NIL fight. Have you not paid attention to cases by the University of Tennessee etc over the past few years? The NCAA says “no” to anything NIL related, and every school they say “no” to threatens a lawsuit and the NCAA folds. Once the Supreme Court said “eff you” to the corrupt NCAA, it was over for the NCAA.

The cap is just that, a cap. It was zero before NIL and now it's $20MM. That won't stop athletes from signing NIL contracts.
