Official Transfer in Thread

FYI he’s a highly touted TE, but decided he won’t climb up their depth charts to be a starter barring injuries because they already have NFL TEs above him over there. The lack of knowledge on this board not preventing people from forming ridiculous opinions is staggering.

Their TE4 got drafted by the Falcons last year in the 6th round. Kind of crazy. Who knows how good TE 5/6 are.

In any other previous year, I would have taken issue with this statement. No longer. 100% agree.
Our top 3 TEs combined for 26 catches and 237 yards. And a bunch of high profile drops and missed blocks. Not to mention a few scholarship guys who have done NOTHING in 3 years.

Anybody saying we don't need help in that room is retart. Is anybody actually saying that?

And it may have been because or S&C sucked as bad for them as it did our DB's and our coaching was.....öööö, some sort of rah rah phrase or something

Nope. It used to not be cool to call out players and suggest they be "processed" but the times - they are a changin.

If players can "process" Georgia Tech (by hopping in the portal) then we can process them back.

How often does one need to coach a receiver to catch a ball that hits them in the hands? They can probably be improved in some ways, but they haven't shown that their ceilings aren't low either.

I didn't realize coaching WR's was so easy. You should call coach Key and give him some pointers.

I can see coaching helping with things like route running and getting open. But if you’re wide damn open and can’t catch a perfectly thrown ball at this point in your career then I don’t see how any amount of coaching will help that.

You can blame the S&C coach for them being slow & weak; but not for the ineptitude. It is more likely that our recruiting guru sucked.

You can certainly coach focus and concentration. Tip drills are one such way.

So coaching has nothing to do with ineptitude?

Calvin used to catch HUNDREDS of footballs every day. Before a game, he would have a coach take a rack of footballs and fire them at him. Were we doing anything like that, coaching wise, or just saying "he is putting in max effort" and leaving it at that. Demaryus Thomas was also a relentless worker and film watcher, thanks to Calvin and our staff.

We were instead lifting weights on the sideline and having dress up orc battles during off season workouts.

Even IF it is possible that changing coaches will improve their catching from where it was (which was pretty not good), that's still a time opportunity cost in having to coach some players up to be able to catch uncontested throws that could of been spent on other things. If we have the opportunity to swap into players that have higher starting points then we should take it, Key may not have the time to wait for players to become serviceable.

If we're being honest, most of coaching for receivers is release and route running. Not even catching. That should just be innate.
So Calvin pregame standing on the sideline having a coach grab footballs off the rack and fire at him from 12 feet away was unnecessary?

Exactly. The surest-handed WRs in history have relentlessly practiced catching balls, period. The whole "you can't teach hands" thing is completely wrong, for 99% of WRs who make it to the collegiate level. We aren't talking about an 11 year old in pee wee football who may or may not have any hand-eye coordination. We're talking about D1 WRs.
