Pruitt fired, Fulmer retiring

So does Monken have a chance...?
No. Unless you are just wanting Tennessee fans to burn Neyland down soon. Tennessee thinks of themselves as an Alabama rival. Monken doesn't check those boxes.

There is a very slight chance I might have been sarcastic.

But even without the option thing, it would amuse me for UT to hire someone Vandy rejected....

The UT leadership says they are only looking at "proven winners". It will be interesting to see how they are going to attract a proven winner to a dumpster fire where the previous coach was fired for cause to avoid a buyout and the NCAA hammer is about to drop.

How can we benefit from this disaster? Will we have room in June for additional 2021 recruits or potential transfers?

That phrase leaves a lot of wiggle room. Rush Propst could fit that profile

Jon Gruden incoming.....again.....just like the last 3 times they hired a coach.

I figured it was Les Miles' to lose last time. He might just be tired of Lawrence by now and ready to get back into the SEC.

With an NCAA show-cause label, can Pruitt still be an assistant, just not head coach?

So paying off players is "recruiting?" I mean, I don't know how else to interpret that. Paying them off is recruiting, but if you do it by putting the money in McDonald's bags, then you are sloppy about how you're doing it.

If that is really the case, then the entire sport of college football is more corrupt than anything this side of the Mexican border.

College football fans are the most delusional of all. Tennessee is not even a top six football program in its own conference. Their fans are still living in the 1940s. Like Indiana basketball fans, only worse.

The only "proven winner" they are likely to get would be some dude who has a great record coaching high school football.

Won't they ever learn? YHGTBSM!

The Bagman is returning to Knoxville? You can't make this schtuff up......

Per The Scoop (Link)

"Sources informed FootballScoop that Steele, officially the Vols’ interim coach following the program’s Monday firing of Jeremy Pruitt amidst both an internal and external investigation, is moving to reunite with veteran defensive assistant Rodney Garner. Additionally, Steele is discussing a plan to move former Vols standout linebacker Kevin Simon from his off-field role as director of player development into Tennessee’s linebackers coach’s position.

"Garner is expected to return to Rocky Top as the Vols’ defensive line coach, if Tennessee can finalize the deal. He also in that scenario reunites with Steele, with whom he has just finished working alongside at Auburn – Garner’s alma mater.

"Among the most acclaimed defensive line coaches in college football, Garner through his work at Georgia and Auburn for nearly a quarter century. With those stops and his first tour at Tennessee, Garner is responsible for double-digit NFL Draft picks along the defensive line and also is consistently ranked as one of the SEC’s and college football’s top recruiting specialists."

To'o To'o put his hat in the portal, now that is a player we could use!

Did you not already know that was the case?
