Ranking our regular season opponents

I'll tell you what, we can rank #1-7 SEC East versus ACC Coastal. Why not do that? I could be wrong, but there isn't much separation.

Yeah, so that's what the Sagarin ranking does. The Coastal had 5 teams in the top 40, the SEC East had 3.

GT finished 5th in the Coastal last year, and we beat the #2 SEC East team at their place and embarrassed the 4th and 5th place teams by a combined 46 points. If that "isn't much separation," I'm not sure what to tell you.

And we beat the brakes off of your Coastal champ. You also lost to UNC by 4 Tds, a team UGA beat.

Question? Everybody always talks about about your offense, I know nothing about your defense. Scheme? Talent? Tendencies? I'm definitely interested to find out more about your D.

Scheme: 4-3 multiple. We typically line up in 4-3 or nickel depending on the team.

People: Most of the defense is back, but the fight for PJ Davis' spot (mike) will probably be the most interesting.

Tendencies: Tends to be well rested due to ToP, and tends to not like CSI: miami (oddly enough)

I'm definitely interested to find out more about your D.

Calling out the SEC East and you're in the Coastal? I'm not suggesting it isn't historically down, but you're in the Coastal, not exactly a bunch of world beaters in that division either. I'd say they're pretty much on par with one another. Also, no way in hell is UNC better than Tennessee.

Actually, it is the ability to step up and give the big teams a scare that separates the coastal from the secleast. About half of Clemson's losses over the last three years has been to the coastal. FSU is slightly better. The B1G champ has as many coastal losses as B1G losses.

Now, if you really wanted to improve the east, you could add Kansas State. Those mid to lower tier big 12 teams do pretty well in the SEC.

1) Miami, or should I say Mark Richt. He practically owns us. Thursday in Miami. Better have our fuk mind rite, str8up.

2) Clemson, if we had their DL talent last year, we would have played for a title

3) UNC, I don't know, but I get a bad feeling they are turning a corner

4) Tennessee, only Bama handed them their ass. Vandy was an upset where the wheels just fell off the bus

5) UGAg, Kirby Smart is Donnan/Goff V.3. He might be the worst of the three coaches. I fully expect us to rout them this season.

Not that I want to drop Clemson as our permanent crossover, but if Wake were our permanent crossover, we would likely have played for a few more ACC championships

UT is a shit program. That's really it. A shit team in an awful division, arguably one of the worst divisions in the power 5. Why are we debating the UT game? We may lose but we'll probably win and it will be the 5th or 6th "best" win of the year come January.

In-division record should determine the division champ, IMO. Makes it a true round robin.

Football isn't commutative, I think everyone knows that. The difference is that the SEC East has four teams (i.e., over half the division) with a Sagarin ranking of 65 or lower. The ACC Coastal has two. The Coastal's fifth-ranked team (Pitt, rating = 77.44) is essentially equivalent to the SEC East's third-ranked team (UGA, rating = 77.48).

Thus, the ACC Coastal was rated the third best division in CFB last year, compared to 8th for the SEC East.

Let's call this group Ole Miss Coaches in waiting.

7. UNC
Another offense heavy team with a questionable D. Having a complex passing scheme might be a headache for defenses, but with the limited practice times in college, it makes for a rollercoaster when changing QBs. A fast start for unc will start the Ole Miss rumors flying.

8. UT
Look for rumors to continue to swirl as CBJ tries to jump to another SEC program with a higher ceiling and a more committed administration.

You think Ole Miss has a higher ceiling than Tennessee? Based on what? No P5 major coach would leave to go that dumpster fire. Fedora wouldn't take that job either. He has to be exhausted dealing with the negative recruiting he's dealt with in Chapel Hill with all their NCAA stuff. My money is on Fedora being introduced as the next head football coach in College Station, Texas, in December.

Beating Bama?
We've beaten Bama more than any other team. Ole Miss has never even won their division. Their last conference title was over 50 years ago. We have better tradition, facilities, academics, etc., etc. It's not comparable at all.

Your current coach hasn't added to that total.

Or the one before that.
