Tashard Choice Gone

Sadly he does leave Tech as a loser, as will most others associated with this stretch of the program. But I don't think there's any dishonor in it, nor is he himself a loser. If you want to work your way up the coaching ladder, you need to take opportunities when they present themselves, especially when you're just a position coach. Being RB coach at USC is a fantastic opportunity for him and the type of job that could lead to an OC position in the future.

It's a lateral move. RB coach -> RB coach. I like people who don't say "I need something easier! Bye!" when faced with a challenge. You guys are celebrating a dude who lost 3 of our 4 best running backs, and one of the top RBs in the country.

No honor in leaving after 3 3-win seasons. Choice leaves Tech as a loser.
Honor?? Are you joking? This is college football. There’s absolutely no honor in college football. Coaches leave all the time to take other jobs and now thanks to the transfer portal, players do too.

And let’s say he did stay. What’s he supposed to do? Get water out of the Titanic one bucket at a time by himself? He was smart to leave. He recognized what was happening and chose to take a higher paid position with a better head coach at a school that offers way more exposure.

“No honor.” What a joke.

Let me tell you how this is gonna go.

We fire Geoff in about 53 to 54 weeks.

After he successfully drove the program into the ditch and being so cash strapped, we make a budget hire. We flounder for another 3 to 4 years. Meanwhile, Choice is soaking in leadership and tutelage from a real college football coach.

He’s hired head football coach of Georgia Tech either 2025 or 2026.
We all know who is getting hired in December 2022.

I disagree that it's a lateral move. RB coach at USC is a far more high profile job nationally than RB coach at GT.

This. His plyers scored 0 points the last 2-1/2 games. How does he get a pass from the "the coaches are clowns" idiots?
Because he nods his head up and down real cool like at practice and makes speeches?

Other than Smith, Griffin, and Mason running hard on the scrubs at the end of the UGAg game, I saw nothing to indicate any coaching of our RB:s or OL. Choice is beloved, but if he were a former Oklahoma RB coaching us, having never played for GT, we would all be waving bye to him.

I don't really think this is primarily due to a budget problem but realization of where our program now stands. Smart move on his part. Good luck to him and his future career. G-jeff has seriously hamstrung Tech football.
No use hanging around when all the top guys you’ve recruited & coached have bailed out. Perhaps the only competent coach on the entire staff. Absolutely no surprise he’s leaving.
