Which direction is our program going?

Yes, we went to the conference championship, and that's a great accomplishment. And we also fell apart down the stretch to limp to a 9-5 finish. Remember Colorado fired Gary Barnett right after he lost a conference championship.

The program is in better shape then when Gailey took over after George's last year. If there was a change to occur in a couple months it would I think improve rapidly not decline, recruiting is going up we need a few other things to improve now.

I would still like to know what changes you suggest would be benificial.

I am not demjackets, but I think he is referring to swapping a HC.

I personally believe we are stagnant, recruiting seems to have improved, but no matter what, we will be stagnant b/c of the head man.

CCG didn't even crack the Top 25 and had Calvin Johnson on his team for 3 years!!! he couldn't figure out how to finish in the Top 25 with one of the greatest WR's of all time on his team.

Who else do we need to recruit to finish in the top 25? the next Joe Montana and Jerry Rice....maybe the next LT? I mean, seriously, recruiting obviously doesn't matter when u have calvin and can't do jack-squat with it.

I believe if we get rid of Chan we will be making a big mistake because anyone should be able to see we are making progress inspite of all the problems he has had to overcome.

I, like many, have seen what happens when we react too soon in these situations.

We also forget that coaches are nor knocking down our door to get a job here unless it is concidered a stepping stone to greener pastures.

Let's be patient we are on our way to the top.

By the way I would still like for Demjacket to tell us what he ment.

Could you give me an indication (other than recruiting) that we are on the way to the top?

Something on the field. Some results. Also, leave out the ACCCG. That was an on field abortion and a shameful display of football.

Some examples I'm looking for from you are something like: we don't make the same dumb mistakes we were the last few years or we don't still have a chronic issue with coming out flat.

Come on, sir. Its year SIX. We're 0-5 against Georgia and haven't finished in the Top 25...even WITH the great Calvin Johnson.

Like I already harped on before, IF Gailey can recruit the next Joe Montana and Jerry Rice, he can stay.

lol.

Yeah, I'm proud of that 9-6 ACCCG.
I am proud of it, even though we lost it in wretched fashion, and I do think making the ACCCG is an accomplishment. And I think if you ask VT fans or FSU fans or UVA fans or anyone else in the ACC that DIDN'T make it last year they'd tell you that yes, it IS IN FACT (shocker) an accomplishment to make it to the championship game of your conference, beating some damn good teams on the way to it.

Sheesh.

So you're not proud of any of our team's accomplishments last year?

Why ignore recruiting? Personally I think that is one of the main reason any team will go up.

The ACCCG was big even though we didn't win there are many others who would have loved to do as well.

As for as mistakes all teams have them it just seems they affect us more because of our lack of depth.

Sure I would like to see more consistancy by our team and I believe we will as we recruit more depth and our coaches do their job, which by the way, I think they are doing very good under the circumstances they have been under.

I'm afraid we will do something stupid, like fire our coach, that we will not be able to over come as quickly as an ala., agag etc because of the limitations we have that many on this board will not admiit are there.

I have been a side walk Tech fan for nearly 60ty years and have seen it all but I have never seen so many so unrealistic, yes I know I will be called mediocre, in their view of things. Atleast that is my opinion. And I am one who has been a faithful Tech fan for all those years when we would have thought we had died and gone to heaven if we won 7 games.

Do I want to only win 7 games? No but I do realize where we have been and where we could be and am thankful for what we have and I am convinced if we will be patient we will see things much better. I have seen it much worse.

Interesting take...

But taking it in as a historic perspective, you may want to consider we never really used to play the div 2 teams and other patsies with much regularity before the 80's...

i.e. Army, Samford, Notre Dame (ha ha), Duke, UNC...

7 wins a season is a little more like 6 wins was back in the 70's.

I can remember loosing to Furman which i believe was div 2. Oh and I didn't know Notre Dame, Army, Duke, N.C. were considered patsies.

I meant that we will continue to do what we have been doing which is just getting by, recruiting is taking off would a change make things different? No not if some things stay in place like they probably will, we sit in the middle of black hollywood, a big city, and one of the best high school football states in the country. There is no reason why recruiting should not be good or be like it was the year before last, we have the facilities, the resources to go out and recruit, there is everything you need to be successful here. He has had his chance to prove he can take the team to the next level, 6 YEARS! Do you believe we are there? Well we aren't because we all here believe we can be up top with the elite, yes we have recruiting restrictions but they are not as tough as most people think. If we win out he stays that was the expectation set early in the season, your most talented team is supposed to move you to a new level. People say we dont have the talent, look at our roster we have more players on this team we will end up sending to the NFL over the next couple of years then ever. Talent is there, the expectations were there, the program is moving up in a steady pace, its not translating to the field though. That calls for a change to make that last transition complete.

Stagnant. If talent is improving so much, why are we not seeing better results? We are stuck in neutral. No scratch that, WE ARE neutral.

The improved talent is all young. That is why.

I agree we're pretty stagnant, but we have the potential to be up in the next couple years.

THANK YOU DEM...FINALLY Another person who gets it...that won't settle for mediocrity and that agrees its better to take a SMALL risk and make a change for the best rather than take no risk and move nowhere.

No its not.

NFL draft prospects are all srs sprinkled with some jrs.

Wheeler, cox, guyton, oliver, robertson, lewis, choice, gardner, MJ.

Thats 9 potential draft picks out of starting 22. I haven't even thrown in a guy like tums who could easily work out well and get drafted; nor jrs like Richard.

The talent is starting. There are no excuses this year.

You've proven my point. All you mentioned was recruiting and 2 field goals in the ACCCG with an all-world WR playing for us. Do you have anything else? When someone says, "we are on our way to the top", I would expect there to be some hard evidence and on-field results.

Recruiting has been better the last few years. We all know this. Will it stay there? I don't know. We need more W's and to put a better product on the field.
