Why building a culture with Geoff Collins is more important than winning

So you don’t think it’s important to pull in sidewalk fans by repressing the very large city that Georgia Tech resides in? Or we shouldn’t market the very large city that attracts some of the best hip hop and r&b talent in the country? I mean, there’s no way THAT would appeal to high school football players. Tech tradition isn’t attracting a single football player anymore. Stop with the antiquated views!

"Repressing" "antiquated"

You and ibb obviously have no interest in responding the points I explained in my post and would rather make up a position to argue against, so no point in responding because we're going to continue to talk past each other.

You mean the points I specifically addressed in each of my responses to you? Go back and reread everything.

Lol clown response

This might be one of the worst positions on here and there are quite a few. Represent Georgia Tech? What does that mean or entails? Wear 30 different shades and brag about your job to opponents at a football game? If you want to grow, you better be one with the city you reside in.
The city will only side with you if you win and players go to the highest bidder/winner coach. They don’t care about ATL chants or 404 signs.

Not if your marketing alienates 90% of the state you reside in. Do you not realize how small the 404 is now? You might as well be flashing a zip code and leaving the rest of the state to UGA.

Seems like if you’re enough of a yokel to think “well, I don’t live in the 404 area code, I guess they’re not for me” versus understanding the cachet that ATL and 404 carries in the culture we’re largely recruiting from, then U[sic]GA is probably a better fit anyway.

There’s a reason that U[sic]GA started marketing themselves like they’re also in the Atlanta area after Collins got here…

lol What? Only Tech fans think their area code alienates from the rest of the state. Geezus! With shallow thinking like this, it shows you why the culture and brand of GT struggles

My understanding is that he has been quite successful with this. Can anyone confirm?
What good does it do to raise the necessary funds if it's spent in the wrong place or not spent at all? There's no question we have the funds to afford coaches and talent, however it must be a enormous surplus or he's been negligent with them. Case in point, back loading an unproven HC's contract that cost us more in the long run. A rebuild wasn't needed, a revamping was. We were successful with CPJ, yes on a downturn but he left with a bowl eligible team. The fact that Pastner hasn't proven himself either

Every coach in America would’ve gotten a 3yr grace period on their contract to take this job. You’re delusional if you’re still peddling the notion a rebuild wasn’t needed especially with the state of the OL was in

It really shows. That’s why we’re back down to mid 40s in recruiting.
It’s not a silver bullet. There are a lot more factors in recruiting than just the branding. You know that. You’re just being intentionally obtuse.

No I’m not. The whole point of the article and this discussion is culture is more important than winning to grow the fanbase and recruiting yada yada. It’s blatantly obvious that the interest level has bottomed out for the faithful and we’re not getting any new sidewalk fans without winning. Then your point is high school kids like it, meaning it helps recruiting. So I show you the recruiting rankings and your point changes to oh there’s other factors, therefore proving the point that this öööö does not work unless you win.
