After beating them for 4 straight years, with our expectations, that was tough to take. 9/11 jacked us up.
i was in the student section for that game. My boots smelled bad for weeks after having dead fish in them.1978 versus Notre Dame. This was the infamous game where Notre Dame was winning big and Tech students from the east stands started throwing fish and other debris from the east stands. My family was sitting in the upper West stands so we really couldn’t tell what was happening except that there was a delay late in the game and were losing so we left before it was resolved.
I was a rat in 1962 and remember that game vividly. It was the most intense football I have ever been to, and probably the most electric crowd I have ever been a part of. The cheering started long before the teams ever took the field and continued long after the game was over.11/17/1962: 5-2-1 Georgia Tech 7, #1 Alabama 6
100%. We were favored to beat FSU on September 15th for the first time in forever but the game got pushed to December and by then it was evident we were not nearly as good as we thought we were. After beating them for 4 straight years, with our expectations, that was tough to take. 9/11 jacked us up.
