The Geoff Collins Effect!

Same applies with the Temple argument.

Folks talk like Temple is a factory and can replenish multiple NFL caliber players.

Rhule had a QB, who has NFL starts, and multiple top 100 guys drafted

Tell me what GT record looked like having multiple guys drafted after 2009 & 2014 season?
Go back and listen to Collins pressers here the first year and see how many times he mentions the strength of the roster at Temple. Yet the record still diminished when he took over. Johnson, in spite of what others say about the roster, took his last team to a bowl. Something Collins will never do at Tech.

This has been answered numerous times, Jeff Monken. We had 3 perfectly good option qbs and a whole team set up for *gasp* running the option. The OL would have had to learn nothing new.

So the master of the flexbone finished 24-25 since the OB and you’re really trying to convince us that his understudy Monken would’ve took a lesser team to better results? That an OL of Quinney, Jump, Minihan, McKeehan, Lay or Larry Dowdy would’ve been competing in the ACC?

Perfect Option QBs? By what standard? Tobias had a nice game vs. USF, but cmon mane. TO couldn’t beat out Marshall and he refused to pitch the ball. Would Graham even be in school with Monken and Yates showed he didn’t have the wheels. He probably would’ve been Tevinesque

Why y’all always forget to mention defense & ST when mentioning the TO coaches? Would it be 14 straight years of bad defenses and hoping that the O would overcompensate?

The NFL draft agrees with CGC assessment. Teams usually take a step back when they lose a NFL QB

This “diminished” record argument is so disingenuous. Temple has had 3 double digit win season in their entire history, yet you’re arguing that should’ve been sustained.

CPJ did a helluva job getting the guys to the bowl and it showed how far behind we have fallen getting embarrassed by the Gophers

You know recruiting happens every year right, where you can recruit more OL? Oh wait, no you showed yesterday hou don't know that. You also forgot Parker Braun who didn't want to play for ööööty Geff and ööööty Brent.

Defense would have been in its 2nd year with Woody and would likely have improved, but even if it didn't, it would have still been better than the öööö your daddy has trotted out the last 3 years. ST? You mean the ST that includes our kicking game that went to COMPLETE öööö when Geoff took over? Yea that would have definitely have been better than what we've gotten the last 3 years.

It's laughable you even want to bring up defense and special teams when we may as well have trotted nobody out there and just handed the ball to the other team the last 3 years because they've been so bad under your daddy.

Every time Oliver stepped on the field he outplayed Marshall, everyone saw that except CPJ. Yates would have been Tevin like, you are correct there - Tevin was a good quarterback and excellent game manager, he just had a öööö defense his whole career. Graham didn't flunk out of Tech, so the fact that you are even insinuating such things shows you are just a salty POS.

It’s been well-documented that Parker Braun was leaving whether CPJ stayed or left, so wrong again.

“Recruiting happens every year” Are you sure that happened during that time? Lol It happened every year but I’m not sure they knew it did. In 5 recruiting cycles from 2014-2018, they signed a whopping 12 OL. I guess they didn’t plan very well, huh?

Vad transferred because he didn't like the option or getting hit, Marshall transferred because he got his reps taken by a better back.

Vad transferred bc CPJ promised him they would open the playbook up, pass more and run more gun like he they did initially. Since some memories are short here. Vad thought it would be more of this

Vad left because JT5 could run the option at a ridiculous level. Vad running the diamond formation was going to land you in Music City bowls and give you ‘should have been losses’ to uga.

Vad was a solid player, but fewer players have been missed less the following year.

Did you forget we were talking about if Jeff Monken had taken over? Paul Johnson's recruiting efforts (which I've already said he wasn't good at multiple times but you somehow think helps your argument) are irrelevant there. But since you want to bring it up stats that are irrelevant to that topic, Geoff has signed only 11 OL out of high school 2019-2022, and even with the portal he still is up öööö creek on that front.

Yes, that's what I said...

Boy, talk about disingenous.
You point out the 11 HS players signed in 3 years but disregard the 4 brought in through the transfer portal? That's 15 in 3 years which is pretty damn good actually.

Now, go back and tell me how many Johnson signed in his final 2 classes and PERHAPS you might start to figure out WTF the problem was.

And how the hell is Johnson's inability to recruit "irrelevant"? Isn't the head coach responsible for everything in the program? Or are we just magically going to give him a pass because "muh triple option"? LOL

Well thank Vad bc the coaches wanted him to be the guy. The players knew JT5 was the guy, from what i was told, Vad would have been the guy moving forward if

Its 11 HS players signed in 4 years (19, 20, 21, 22 since you can't do math), I mentioned that it was irrelevant right before that, and I mentioned the portal players in literally the same sentence. And it's irrelevant because we were talking about what Jeff Monken would do had he taken over, so Paul's inability to recruit does not have anything to do with Jeff's ability to recruit. Try reading before you respond next time.

I am a little afraid that is true. CPJ definitely seemed to be a ‘starter’ guy. Washington over Lee. Lee over Thomas. Marshal over Oliver.

I don’t think any of those is a case of fans loving the back-up QB.

No need to be afraid, it's in the past now and turned out the right way for us.

I had forgotten about Dedrick Mills. Had to look him up- after getting kicked off the team for marijuana use, went the community college route then to Nebraska, tried to go pro after last year, was on the Lions for at least some of preseason. This is one of those, "if this one small thing goes different a lot may have turned out different" situations.

I’m fine with no excuses. Here’s the coaches:

a) .612
b) .580
c) .579
d) .543
e) .423
f) .367
g) .265

One of these sticks out like a sore thumb.

Hint: It’s not Bill Lewis the most widely despised Head Football Coach at GT ever.

So Collins couldn't take a roster full of NFL talent (according to you) and win more than 15 games in two years against a weak schedule. Very telling. And couldn't take the talent that CPJ took to a bowl and beat the Citadel with it.....

Measuring coaches by NFL players or recruiting rankings is a nice way of deflecting conversations away from win-loss records. Win some damn games and we can all dance/ jump around like idiots on the sideline for all I care. Reverse the order and we look like complete morons. Celebrating while getting our asses kicked is one of the dumbest things I’ve ever seen on The Flats, but apparently it’s trendy and makes some feel all warm
and gooey inside.

Hey we rule the State of Kennesaw at least!
