Expansion Rumors…

If they both decided on 28, we could plan for a super 56 with everyone else reorganizing to compete on the second level.
Yeah that ain’t happening. They don’t give two öööös about everyone else. They don’t give two öööös about tradition, or fairness, or a common-sense playoff. The one and only thing they care about is money. Throw everything else out the window.

make no mistake that a major arms race is underway, and a lot of teams are going to get left out in the cold.

Tech is at fault certainly. Look it up, when Tech competes, the ACC is a much stronger conference when compared to the sec. Tech doesn’t do the things necessary to compete.

That is the key factor for most schools. Our first decision was misguided but driven by principle. The Big 10 decision was based on Peterson's stupidity. He is very proud of that decision.
To be clear, I’m not sure a decision based on principle is stupid. It’s stupid we even have to play a game of survival.

If the ACC implodes, it will probably just merge with the rest of the AAC--and that will likely be where Tech will end up. Maybe the SEC will throw us Vandy as a consolation prize

Give a good reason why “it’s stupid” as you say? GT wouldn’t even be in the position their in (the outside looking in) if the school itself gave a damn about sports even a little. Instead they want to pretend to be something more than they really are.

If you think GT is some moral high ground institution, then why not drop down to the Fun Belt conference? GT can then continue to pretend they care to support athletics, while finally being on a level playing field competition wise.

The decision to remain in the ACC instead of going to the B1G at the time (per the rumor) was a huge mistake. The B1G fits GT academically, which is what’s strange about Peterson’s rumored decision to remain in the ACC.

So fast forward to now, why would the B1G want GT a 2nd time around? The athletics of the big 2 can’t be the reason. The only selling point GT has at this point is getting into the Atlanta market, which is full of B1G transplants. Really that seems to be the only thing in the positive column for GT at the moment. Sad but true.

In a recent AJC article Peterson seemed to be bragging about his decision to reject the Big10 and tie us into the GOR.

Yep. And there are some of those same supporter’s on here that actually think Swafford made any smart decision to help the ACC in the arms race. Then follow it up with the ACC is always out to get little ole GT. All he did was put up a faux wall that will eventually be broken when Clemson, FSU, Miami etc figure out the small loophole they need to get out of the GOR. And if GT isn’t a part of B1G expansion in the next phase or two, they’ll complain that GT is getting screwed. Seems to be the trend, it’s everyone else’s fault that GT is in the position they’re in, except the school itself.

Nobody on this board has ever supported Swafford.

In fairness to Seofford, GT, Miami, FSU, and VPI all imploded while Syracuse, Duke, Pitt and UVA were all bad.

Miami insiders saying they're SEC bound. Would make sense that DRad would be highly active on this, but I'll believe it when I see it.
