Expansion Rumors…

Fair call-out. I should've brought up the national broadcasters, but as they're sharing time spots between all conferences it's a rather miniscule amount - not even enough to satisfy 1 conferences needs. I actually forgot about the sec and big10 packages being with them. I thought they were with espn. Thanks for pointing that out.

That certainly changes things, but I'm not sure how much tbh. A market of 3 known buyers is small. Perhaps the acc should pursue abc or another national broadcaster about a conference channel.

Isn't ABC already connected with ESPN to show some of their games?

Yes. The wildcard would be if a streaming service like Netflix wanted to get into live sports and/or Amazon has an appetite for more beyond the Thursday NFL package that they paid a kings' ransom for. Either of them would certainly expand the market of buyers so to speak. However, I'm sure that all of them are watching ESPN to see where the market might be going.

Dream scenario is that sec wants to raise its academic credentials and keep B1G out of Atlanta and votes us in. I’d not be unhappy with going to B1G though. Both are preferable to ACC.
I'm hoping the lack of "pitching a fit" from Cabrera is more of a sign we are just damn smarter than FSU and Clemson when it comes to realignment. I believe, IIRC, correct me if I'm wrong, that Cabrera or JBatt or both were in the box with the Ole Miss AD and SEC commissioner at the Ole Miss game (I very well could be wrong, but I remember it for some reason).

As for the BIG10, GT academically, would be an excellent school to add to the BIG10. IMO, GT and Miami fit the BIG10 the best out of all ACC schools, allowing the BIG10 to establish roots deep in the south with Georgia and Florida. UNC and UVA fit the bill academically, but what does that really get the BIG10, exposure wise? Recruiting is much, much more fertile in Georgia and South Florida than Virginia and North Carolina.

Plus, GT and Miami are kind of lone wolves. GT, when asked to choose/suggest a permanent rival to play yearly in the ACC, chose nobody. GFY, the rest of the ACC. We don't require Duke or Clemson, or FSU or any ACC team to be dragged along with us. UNC might require a package deal with NC State or Duke or both (bye Wake).

Miami has FSU, but the FSU fans I know care much more about the Florida game than the Miami game. You'd never really realize that, being it would seem Miami is their main rival, but the FSU fans I know hate UF. I think Miami could leave FSU behind and nobody would care.

Anyway, the ONLY reason this is happening to the ACC is because of an anchor media contract. If our contract was near being on par with the SEC's, the ACC schools would be happy as JJacket left overnight in a University of Alabama sorority house.

Now FSU needs to give us our money and GTFO

No way in hell does the BIG or SEC want to take 2-3 NC or 2 VA teams, that is going to be a major factor in the decision making. Will those schools UNC/UVA and state legislations be willing to leave their rivals behind for more money?

They kicked and screamed wanting to keep their round robin basketball format before the expansion that brought in Miami and VT. Maybe they are willing to drop the basketball thing for enough money, but I doubt it.

NC State fans are arrogant enough to think they are high on the SEC list. I don't see it. They are mediocre. UNC is the only promising school there.

UVA is damn boring

To me, the best schools to add are GT and Miami. I would put in the contract, if I were the BIG10, that Miami must build a near campus stadium of at least 55k within a decade or face financial penalties or expulsion.

As far as GT goes, if we did manage to land in the BIG10 and get +$30 million a season, I would expect extensive stadium and GameDay experience improvements - including demolition of Peter's parking, which is an eyesore. Put a park there and move the pregame stuff there. The North Avenue pregame was almost unbearable last game with too many people funnelled into a small area.
