Future Games at MBS

I'm changing my mind and agreeing with you. In my outrage over this abandonment of BDS@HGF in favor of the ALL RED off campus stadium down the street, I did forget the very worst decision ever made by Tech, which was leaving the SEC. Thank you for correcting me.

Nobody but you gives a öööö what color the seats are in MBS. Give it a rest.

Presuming this is indeed a cash grab, exactly how much more money are we going to get from playing ND in the Benz? It was a guaranteed sellout in our own facility which is a sunk cost. I doubt Blank is going to let us play in the Benz for free.

I'm not convinced we make much more money playing there. I'm not convinced we make any more money.
Are you still convinced the other ACC teams will demand we play our homes against them at MBS even though that is not at all how ACC scheduling works? Now you are saying we are losing money even though you know nothing of the financial arrangement, just making crap up and running with it.

From Suguira's article:
Stansbury didn’t have a dollar figure to reveal Tuesday of the financial benefit that the athletic department will capture, but said that, “We anticipate that over a five-game series, it’s going to be a pretty strong number for us.”

I don't pretend to know how all the financials of one of these deals work, but I would be beyond shocked if we did this without a clear financial benefit. For Stansbury to say it's going to be a "pretty strong number" tells me that we are getting dat $$$.

Presumably a lot more, otherwise we wouldn't be doing it. Stansbury understands basic math, and flat-out said the reason we are doing this is because our rainy day fund is running low.

The only guaranteed prime time game will be in 2022 against Clemson because it is on Monday night. The Notre Dame games and the other two games against TBD would fall in the regular 12 day window for TV time assignment. I would think the Notre Dame games would be prime time because ABC/ESPN tends to put them at night when they are not at home and being televised on NBC. The TBD games could just as easily be nooners as night games. It wouldn't surprise me to see them change to a "special" OOC foe such as Auburn or South Carolina to draw crowds and be attractive as a prime time game. Our attendance for the VT game is 2017 was 47,909 at BDS. They would be our most likely opponent in 2021 if we play an ACC team for the game. Even 55,000 for that game wouldn't look so great in MBS.

While it is possible, I seriously doubt any of these games will be nooners. It would take both us and whoever gets filled in the TBD spots being absolutely terrible.

What about the vendors and security that work at BDS? Do they just lose a game and a paycheck?

If ACC, it'd have to be VT or FSU. There are no other ACC schools worth scheduling at MBS.

Yea, including DaU

Yes they lose the $7-$8 an hour. They are contract labor. Of course many of them also probably work MBS so they will just work at a different venue that day.

For 2021, our options would be VT, UNC, Pitt, or Boston College.
For 2023, it would be VT, UNC, Pitt or Louisville.

I predict we get VT and Loserville, provided Loserville gets decent by then.

My guess is VT in 2021 and wait and see in 2023. Maybe schedule a bigger name OOC team. We already play at Ole Miss that year unless we cancel that series.
