Haunting words by CPJ...

Really? You’re judging the team’s talent based on a ööööty bowl game after the coach had already announced he was retiring?

How about the fact that we were one play from beating Pitt and winning the division?
Ok then. Let’s go back a game to the uga game in Athens. I was there. It was miserable except for Juanyeh’s kick return. I don’t think we crossed the 50 until uga put 3rd string on the field in the 3rd quarter. We got absolutely worked in that game.

Did you happen to catch the last two matchups?

A ööööty team getting blown out isn't as embarrassing as our best under PJ losing at home to a mutt team so bad, it fired its DC after shutting us down.

Up 3 scores in 2013 is a close 2nd to Worst home Loss but '09 is still the winner IMO.

We're not a rival anymore to the mutts. Getting bombed in 2021 at home isn't in the same league of embarrassment as '09 is. Back then, the game mattered.

So being competitive ups the embarrassment factor? To each their own. I’ll agree 09 was a wtf, though and hard to swallow.

Also incorrect. There are plenty of highly rated recruits out there that we have gotten in the last few years and some that had interest but we eventually lost out on that flat out said they would not have even considered GT if we still ran the option, and that was offensive and defensive guys.
There were plenty we missed out on as well because we simply didn't have enough man power to recruit them. Yes we will miss out on a Watson or Lawrence type recruit. We will never consistently get those recruits/keep them anyways.

I also didn't see a big uptick (other than Gibbs) since we switched to an "NFL Offense". Even before people figured out CGC was Fraud. I'm guessing you were on the band wagon early on too (idk).

I also didn't see any good offensive linemen since we switched to an NFL Offense.

Regardless, if CPJ had more resources, we could have recruited a little better, but that would have made all the difference as to take the next step.

There wasn’t 7 or 8 win talent on the roster and Johnson knew it. Why do you think he quit.
He's referring to the 2018 record: we had won 7 games, and the bowl game was pending, so the next coach would be taking over a 7 or 8 win team.

There are folks here that will argue you to the death that we were still and would still be competitive with Clemson and UGA with the option and that is flat out false.

We are in agreement here that those folks are wrong. Then again, based upon Clemson/Ugag's respective won/loss records over the last 5 seasons, not many teams have been competitive against them, regardless of scheme.

Where I would disagree with you is that the program's overall talent level is improved under Collins compared to the last season or two of CPJ. While a recruiting service may say that the recruiting class ranking is higher, I think that it would be marginal or at least the class was overrated (or maybe Gibbs' ranking pulled up a class, dunno) a bit. Then again, maybe the coaching is so poor now that the improved recruiting doesn't look to be the case because the coaches are unable to coach up the players or put them in a position to be successful.

You'd have a more realistic argument if you showed what Clemson did to other people on their schedule in that same timespan.
As it stands, this info is pretty useless.
Maybe he’ll post what the imbecile has done against uga compared to what Paul did? Let’s see he’s averaging 3.5 ppg and giving up 48.5? Win percentage…. oh yeah that would be 0 like the middle number in his first and middle names, Ge0ff Cl0wn. I’m sure Paul did better than that.

He’s probably got some other Ge0ff superlatives he’s saving up.

These Cl0wn supporters have no shame.

absolutely. 2021's blowout was completely, totally expected and ignored by mutt fans. We are far underneath mutt radar right now. Their inbred fanbase barely raises an eyebrow at us. Losing when you're expected to lose and when no one even cares is not as bad as riding into the game as the nationally-ranked ACC Div champs but losing to an inferior team in your own backyard that you were favored by everyone to defeat.

That's what was happening at the end of PJ's tenure that the Club wants everyone to forget. Even with the Scheme Equalizer, we were losing badly to the mutts and Clemson....and Duke.

I enjoyed Johnson’s time here. He is a great coach and probably one of the all time great play callers. He is a deserving HOF coach. But to say that things were all rainbows and sunshine, particularly in the years after the OB win, simply isn’t true. We were barely above .500 in those years and getting the doors blown off by our key rivals.

We had the worst pass defense in the country last year, yet 3 of the guys from that secondary are collecting NFL checks. These 3 were all CPJ's recruits, but still, you cant possibly evaluate the talent of this team based on what you see on the field on Saturdays because the coaching sucks.

so you're saying it's better to have not loved at all than to have loved and lost?

what a dumb argument. Even with the embarrassing losses of 09 and 13, at least CPJ still gave us a chance from time to time of being competitive against Ugag. He went on to beat the dogs twice since those two embarrassing losses. Even Gailey couldn't do that, even though he was at least competitive against them. His inability to even beat the mutts once was more embarrassing than a couple of games Johnson should have won. I am fine with moving on from the triple option, and honestly I think we should. But to say that getting blown out by teams like Ugay at home isn't really all that bad because we are so terrible is a new level of crazy...

Never said it isn't all that bad. I said it's not worse than 09 and 13.

And it's not. The ACC Wake loss by Gailey is worse and more embarrassing than PJ's last loss to Duke for these exact reasons that you are unable to comprehend.
