Media reporting

It comes down to whether you believe in a fake person. Collins is a fraud. However; he identifies with a certain group of people. If you are part of the that group, people tend to just accept and believe. It is nothing more than simple politics. Let's face it. CPJ was not one to stroke the media's c*ck.. He was a person the got into the face of players, when they did something wrong. These are ideals, of older people. The younger and more left folks have a different set of ideals. So, Collins meets those ideals. Whether he wins or not. I am old school. I rather have a person be upfront with me, rather than smile, nod and talk behind my back. Collins plays the media game, much better than CPJ ever did. Collins says all the words, that make certain people happy. Eventually, it will work out.. However; it will be way too late, once that happens.

Lol it’s hilarious the personas you guys created in your heads about people that you’ve never met. Now it’s about left-leaning? You mean like Ryan Johnson? How do you know CPJ was upfront with people??

Couldn’t be any worse than what he left especially in the trenches.

You understand why no one want to be a sacrificial lamb for this job.

If you believe there is a coach out there that would have this program sitting at more than 13-14 wins in 3 yrs then you are more delusional than i initially thought.
Lol. You’re right. Nobody has ever won at a Georgia Tech, ever. Definitely never won in the 30 years before this loser showed up. Hell we fired a coach for winning 7 games too often.

If Paul stayed 3 more years we certainly would have won more than 13 games.

If CPJ thought he could be successful, he would’ve never quit, but finishing the season being outscored 79-31 with his starters was enough walk off into the mountains.

Who said that nobody has ever won at GT? No need to tell lies on here. The problem is the cult following on here believes GT can only win being with a specialized offense/ TO.

It sounds like you're in the same boat as everyone else and think Collins has been unable to meet expectations, too.

I spoke with him once, he seemed genuine. He didn’t need to talk to me, could have just moved along but I guess I seemed real interested and he took the time to engage me.

I served alongside 4 guys that played for him and they all spoke well of his character. He’s well regarded among those in the Navy I’ve met. Outside of GT message boards, I don’t think anyone I’ve spoken to about the man was anything other than respect, even opposing fans.

You obviously feel otherwise and played for him. Why don’t you share with us what makes Collins such a great guy and Johnson less so? I’ve only been in the presence of Collins in a group setting where it was impossible to have any sort of back and forth.

All I got to go on is what others have told me and their respective records which are factual unless you want to asterisk data. I’m sure others besides me would love to hear your perspective also.

There is not single person in the fanbase that believes he has. It’s the insignificant things( his attire) and the lies that are annoying

I’ve never had an issue with CPJ, personally. As fan of the game, I didn’t like that CPJ put his offense above the program. Became CPJ & the TO featuring GT football

CGC doesn’t believe in the constraints that many of the older guys put on the program. He has shown that GT can be a force in areas that many think was possible.

Lol at you spinning him as a quitter. They set up his retirement buyout in advance so he could step away when he was ready. He was 61, coached 40 years, including 11 at GT. Not many coaches last 11 years, anywhere. He retired - and saved GT a boatload of $$ in the process.

GT has been competitive with a lot of offenses and schemes in our history. The TO is just one of them. We’ve also had competitive defenses in our history. For 3 years we’ve had none of those.

Oh, and now we can all long for the days of only being out scored 78-31 to finish the season. Or our biggest problem being an undesirable bowl. Those were the days!!

Call a spade a spade. When you leave your job unannounced, what else you want to call it?

Now 79-31 is admirable with your starters but 100-0 with an overmatched 2nd string QB & numerous 2nd & 3rd stringers is the running joke of the town.

Paul actually did the program a solid when he didn’t saddle the program with a large buyout.

The program will be in much worse shape on Dec 1, 2022
Laughable. CGC may or may not be fired, but whoever replaces him will inherit a much, much better program than CGC inherited. The talent level under CPJ had fallen to the absolute lowest level in P5 football. The defense was horrendous, slightly slightly by the low number of possessions in a game. The offense survived by CPJ’s smoke and mirror offense, not because of talent.

You think we are talent rich now? Who are our NFL kids on the roster? Is the current influx of 5.5 and 5.6 recruits and 4 star transfers that couldn’t hack it at their previous stop going to set the next guy up for major success?

The roster also doesn’t solely define the state of the program. Our attendance has dwindled, and we’ll be hamstrung by a large financial buyout. There is associated brand degradation with sucking ass for 4 years. The 2023 graduating class at GT will have never seen a competitive team, I doubt they are too invested in the future.

We’ve lost a lot of fans in recent years, bringing them back won’t be easy.

We are mid level P5 and ACC instead of being bottom of the pack, and getting better.
Look at the offer list from the class of '23...CGC's 4th class. You claim that's even close to the elite level promised? Does a .86 recruiting record vs a .84 record, equate to a much much better inheritance? A lot of the diff between the two now plays for Alabama.

Was the one at Bama rated this high in June of his recruiting cycle

Suck for 4 years? Lol

This the type of BS I’m speaking of

There has only been 2 winning seasons since the 2014.

Not true, you're exaggerating. When CPJ retired the 247 talent composite was 50 or about lower 25th percentile of the P5, but not at the bottom.
CPJ's average sagarin power rating over his tenure was mid 30's or about 50th percentile so at least he coached them up in the right direction. The current HC has modestly improved the talent composite to about 4oth and his average sagarin power rating has been about 85..>> not the right coaching them up direction that any qualified coach would do....... despite a mid P5 level of talent he has barely stayed in the top 100 in performance and ending the season with 6 losses showed this team sinking rapidly.100-0 isn't getting one's nose above the water level.

Paul's last team at GT would whoop the current team, just sayin.... The Citadel and NIU agree.
