So, getting back on track, it seems like A&M and FSU are a package deal. A&M gets the Texas TV market, which is all the SEC cares about. But if the SEC wants balance and 14 teams, FSU is the best of a bunch of bad options in the east. GT, FSU, Clemson and Louisville all add nothing TV-wise. VPI would get the DC market, but they're very happy in the ACC. FSU is the least bad because they would at least get even more nationally televised games for the SEC.
But if FSU leaves the ACC, then the ACC can no longer have its championship game with 11 teams. I guess Pitt would be first in line for the ACC? WVU would be far below the ACC academically. Either the ACC gets Pitt or another school or the Big 10 could then raid the conference by offering more TV dollars to ACC schools than an 11-team ACC could provide.
TAMU/FSU isn't the interesting part of this whole thing. It will be most interesting to see what other dominoes fall because of that.
