Haunting words by CPJ...

Lol, no. A bowl is better than losing. If Collins were 19-18 right now instead of 10-27, even keeping the worst losses, this board would be arguing about an extension.
Going to some shuthole bowl in Detroit and getting your anus expanded is only mildly better than just not going at all

On a similar note, is our anus expanded to full capacity this season? Asking for a friend

And yet, there would be no crowd demanding a stupidly expensive buyout right now if we had done just that.

Edit:
I’ll go a step farther. People would be crowing about how CGC had flipped the roster and was back at CPJ levels. Sky is the limit, if only we hadn’t lost Gibbs. blah, blah, blah

UVa, NIU, BC - teams we only care about if we lose to them. That’s the margin between where we are now and TStan considering extending the CGC contract.

The reason that CPJ comes up is because he is a great college coach. Will be in the Hall of Fame. And we didn't take full advantage of what we had. It is also to remind the Brainiac's that opposed him at every step that they got what they wanted. A supposed world class recruiter that would take advantage of the ATL and run a NFL type offense. You need to admit that you did not and do not know öööö about what it takes to win at Tech even if you did play football there. How rare Orange Bowls and Championship games are for a school like Tech. Your theories and experiment ran into reality, and fell into the abyss dragging our football fortunes with it. Now eat the öööö sandwich.

I have been wondering how the portal would have affected Tech with CPJ as coach. I suspect we would have lost some good running backs after they had shown what they could do in the TO. Conversely, I think we would have had some QBs and RBs that ran the TO in High School and thought they would be the starter at Football U decide they wanted to come play for CPJ. Probably the same for WRs. I would say the TO might be a plus offensively in the portal years.

I don't know about defense.

We had a coach the players respected leaving, we got relegated to the öööötiest bowl possible except maybe Shreveport, etc. Yeah the players were not motivated to play well.

ACC should have slotted us to the bowl in BC, can’t remember the name maybe Armed Forces or something. The Navy/DC draw would have been huge. A great send off for a HOF coach. Instead we grabbed our ankles and let the ACC plow our 5 hole and sent CPJ off in the worst way possible. No celebrations, no recognition of a great career, etc. Go to Detroit and eat öööö and leave. Crap game in crap venue in crap city on crap day with no fan interest.

They respected him so much that they were fine with half effort and getting bent over in a bowl game.

Are you seriously blaming for the ACC for the loss? That is loser talk.

I'm not anti-CPJ, but he knew it was time to get out of town before things turned south in a big way.

Yes there was. He left because Stansbury and his former player buds didn’t want to run the option. We trusted the dumbest alums with our most important revenue generating commodity.
And a bunch of management majors.

The bowl loss was squarely on CPJ quitting. And about a third of the team quit on him in the bowl. iiwii

But we were in as good a shape as anytime during 2011-2017.

You're right. Can you imagine what we could've had if we had truly ponied up for a big time DC when CPJ was here? We probably win UNC and the ACCCG in 2014, and are a 12-1 conference champion at playoff selection time...

Delusional. 2013 was the Worst Choke in History. The 2015 mutts were atrocious and there were several other close games in the PJ Era that he didn't take advantage of with his genius coaching. 2009 was the Most Embarrassing mutt Loss in History, you're right about that. Outcoached at home by Richt on national TV.
You are completely insane if you think the 2009 loss to the mutts was….never mind…I just can’t with you. Lolol

Give specific examples.

Finally threw in the towel here:

Nice thread here, you were reeling them in:

Why the öööö is anyone talking about Johnson?
Because that’s THE ONLY response they have to why dipshit sucks so bad and why they are and have been so wrong. Oh yeah, let’s pick on injury ridden 2015 or a sorry ass bowl game. The idiot is literally ruining, destroying, decimating GT football right in front of them but as long as Johnson is gone they’re happy as öööö. We can lose 99-0 to UCF and they’ll still hate Johnson more. They have a team they can be proud of packed with NFL talent achieving at elite levels and you can’t even see the ceiling it’s so high according to those people. They can cheer on draft day we got more signed than Vandy and that’s all that matters.

And most of college football over the same time frame (tbf)...

powerhouse programs like Pitt and NCState were able to beat Clemson without resorting to gimmickry. But yeah, we can't really compete with them either, according to the PJ Fan Club.

If pj could have had a half decent defensive coordinator, instead of the basement bin trash he was given (excluding Nate Woody at the very end), the results would have been very different. He deserved a better DC and never got one.

yeah - he never had any input on who we hired as DC! Poor PJ!!!

Johnson was fully aware that he was leaving a pitiful batch of QB’s and a line that was only good because of Parker Braun (who left). He knew seven wins was only happening if the planets were perfectly aligned.
